Total Format Product Description
SNK Arcade Classics has all the games that were released for the PS2 version: Art of Fighting, Baseball Star 2, Burning Fight, Fatal Fury, King of the Monsters, Last Resort, Magician Lord, Metal Slug, Neo Turf Masters, Samurai Showdown, Sengoku, Shock Troopers, The Next Glory, The King of Fighters '94, Top Hunters and World Heroes and this collection still takes advantage of the Goals system where certain in-game tasks unlock extra content on the main menu. Most extra content comes in the form of move lists (for the fighters), artwork and music tracks. World Heroes is the only game that must be unlocked through earning a certain number of medals.

Each game in the Wii version may be played with the Wii remote and nunchuk setup. You can choose to play games with the remote and nunchuk together or they can be played with the remote by itself. Games may also be played with a Gamecube controller or the Wii classic controller. Control options may be changed through the main menu in each game and they can be set up to where each game shares the same control setup. Playing some of the games with the remote and nunchuk setup works fairly well, but most SNK fighting fans will likely prefer to use the classic controller or Gamecube controller to play the fighting games included therein. Even without the motion controls, this version has the best control options out of the three versions that are available thanks to numerous control setups.

The Wii version does not really offer much more than the other PS2 and PSP games that came out late last year, but as said above, control wise you are able to use the Wii's full selection, the Wii-mote is good for the beat-em-ups whilst the Gamecube and Classic controller are great on the fighters. With only a couple of poor games in there this is a good collection to pick up, especially at the bargain retail price.

Total Format Scoring Details For King of Fighters: The Orochi Saga

Graphics

The style of graphics is clearly and obviously not a scratch on some of the modern games available now, but it doesn't make the games unplayable and old school gamers especially, will appreciate the accuracy in which the games have been kept to their original formats.

Sound

Classically adapted from the original games, in both good and not so good ways, the original voiceovers, music scores and every cheesy sound effect are brought along from their original counterparts with this compilation.

Gameplay

The fact that there are 16 titles to this collection and offering games of all different styles, means there is something for everyone in this package and that makes the package overall well worth playing.

Lastability

As said above, the fact that there are 16 games to the package means there is plenty of games to play and because most of them are generally casual games, picking them up and having a quick play is never going to be a problem, which means the disc will find its way into the console rather more than a lot of other games would, just like all good classic games always have and always will.

Overall

This collection may lack a little in the graphical department and may come across as a little dated, but what it lacks in those areas it more than makes up for in value for money and general fun, you won't find a better way to get this great selection of games for the Wii.
