Iran’s atomic fuel deal with Russia could collapse
Iran's atomic fuel deal with Russia could collapse if the UN's nuclear watchdog refers Tehran to the Security Council, it has been reported.
Hamid Reza Asefi, the Islamic republic's Foreign Ministry spokesman, said a referral would mean any agreement being called off.
Iran and Russia have been holding talks to establish a joint uranium enrichment venture, which could ease concerns over its nuclear ambitions.
Some Western nations fear Tehran has been masking moves to build atomic weapons.
The International Atomic Energy Agency will be deciding on Monday whether to recommend the UN Security Council should take action against Iran.
Such a move could lead to sanctions against the country.
Iran's deal with Russia might be finalised in a matter of hours.
But Mr Asefi said: "Both an agreement, and its absence, is possible. Nothing is definite."
