In device manager, find the drive controller it's attached to and uninstall the device,
no need to reboot, right click the device tree and check for changes, the device will reset
and re install,
go into control panel> admin tools > services, scroll down the list, and make sure that
shell hardware detection is set at auto and that it has started, if not you will have to configure
the service to auto then click start
try a reboot and try 2 or 3 dvd's
if it still fails then a manual check of the drive's cabling is needed,
failing that the drive will need pulling and replacing.
