TF Arcades Fun ChatIf you have something to discuss regarding any of the flash arcade games in TFs arcade, or any of the other games featured such as Yahtzee, Critters, Sudoku, Hangman, Ludo and the likes, then you should do so in this section.
Total Format provides users with critters. Critters need care and the options available in this system allow you to spend your points on your critters.
Note: You get Pu by participating in the forums, namely posting and replying to messages, refering people and so on...
Core Features
Home
The home displays your current items and living critters. If you have no critters it briefly details how you can create one.
The home also displays your unread Message System notifications.
Market (shops)
The items are ordered by cost. There is also an optional stock system for items and they can be used from a profile or sold back to a market.
Vet (vet)
The vet in Critters has alot of things. Firstly the vet provides heal items. The vet also provides the means to creating a critter or an egg.
Critters Eggs
If you have a male and female critter you may select a mother and father out of your critters to create an egg. This evolution provides you with the possibility for critters to increase stats through generations rather than just battling and training.
Random parents select parents from the excisting critters.
Critters Message System
The messages are displayed once to the recipient on the Critters home. Messages are used to alert and notify about items. Lite alerts will include the use of a kill item on a critter and if your critter is bought in the critter shop.
Critter Shop (adoption center)
The adoption center provided both a way to trade critters and to care for critters it is split into two different sections. The critter shop is like an advertising space. The critter is still yours to do with as you want while it is advertised. Untill it is sold!
Search
Search a critter via it's name.
Critter Profiles
Last but not least! The profiles. All sorts of critter stuff is displayed here: guilds, parents, age, health, hunger, moral, strength, defence, agility, wins, losses, level, experience, etc to name some stats!
Critter spells are also displayed here so you can see how strong a critter is at a certain spell.
Critter profiles are also the place to use items upon a critter. So your inventory is displayed with the option to use items.
Step 1: Locate the Critters main menu. It is located near the top of the screen in the main navigation bar, under the header image and between Search and Quick Links.
Step 2: Open the menu by clicking on it, find Vet and click there to open the vet clinic screen.
Step 3: Once in that screen you can buy your egg. It is located in the 'Create a Critters Egg' category which is under the 'Vet Items' Category. Simply click the 'Click here to create a new egg' link a.
Step 4: Name your new critter and hit submit. Voila! You have a new Egg.
Battles, Part I:
There are a few parts to battles. Creating a Battle, Joining a Battle, and I'm guessing you also participate in the battle. In this guide I will explain how to do the first of these, creating a Battle. The others will be subsequent guides at a later date.
Step 1: Go to the Arena section of the Critters menu area. This can be found one of three ways.
-go to the navigation bar below the header image, click on the link that says Critters (between Search and Quick Links), find Arena in the drop down list and click it.
-Go to the Critters main menu which can be reached by going to the above dropdown menu and clicking the first option...'Critters Home'
-Click this link
Step 2: In the Arena Screen you will see two Categories; Unstarted Battles and Started Battles. In this guide we will be focusing only on Unstarted Battles, so look at that category and in the lower left corner you will see a link that says "Create"; click that link.
Step 3: This brings up the 'Create a Battle' Screen. From here you can see two fields and one drop down menu. In this step we will focus on the first field..'Battle Title' Pretty straight foward...enter a title for your battle, this will be what it is called when other members look at it to decide if they would like to join or not.
Step 4: From the drop down menu select a battle ground. At this time there is only 1, 'Arena'
Step 5: No fill in the amount of Contenders in the final field. You can choose between 2 and 8. This is how many Critters will be fighting in this battle.
Step 6: Hit submit. This is the final step, once you do this you will be taken back to the Arena and you should see your battle listed in the Unstarted Battles category. You can also choose to join this battle now if you choose to (this will cost 50 points)
Buying and Using Items for your Critters
First off, there are two places you can buy items for your Critters, the Market and the Vet.
Step 1: Use one of the above links to go to either the Market or the Vet. You can also use the Critters main/dropdown menu to do this. The Market sells items to increase your critters moral or decrease it's hunger. The Vet offers items to heal your critter.
Step 2: Find the item you would like to buy. Each Item has an icon, name, description, stock level, effect, and cost. You can't buy an item if you do not have enough points or if it is out of stock. So check both these fields and only choose one you can actually purchase.
Step 3: The cost of the item is underlined in the Buy column. Click this link and a confirmation message will pop up, click ok to purchase. Once you purchase the item it will appear below all the buyable items in your inventory. This is how you know if the purchase was successful.
(Note: all steps below are optional, you don't HAVE to use your item NOW)
Step 4: Go to your Critters main menu. You can get there by clicking the link in the Critters drop down menu (it's the very first one), or by clicking here.
Step 5: Click on the critter that you want to use your item on. You should now see your critter, and your inventory.
Step 6: Choose the item you would like to use on your critter and click the Use Item link to the far right of each item.
Congratulations, you now know how to heal your Critters, and keep them happy!
Battles, Part II:
In Battles, Part I, I talked about how to create a battle...that was boring...in this guide we will talk about how to actually FIGHT in a battle.
Step 1: Just like in Part I, we are going to go to the Arena section of the Critters menu area.
Step 2: If you do not see any Unstarted Battles you will need to create on by following the steps in Part I of this guide. If there is already 1 or more that are unstarted you will pick one of them, and click the link that says 'Join'.
Step 3: (visual aid) Once In the battle screen you will see a few things. - -First is the chat window where you can have a chat conversation while you talk...this is straight foward and works pretty much like any instant message system.
-Second is the Duel window. This display Current Round Number, type of battle, date started, a graphics area to display animated battle scenes, and any bets that have been placed on the battle.
-Third comes the Contenders section which shows the current stats of all participants in the Battle and also is where you control your critters from.
-Fourth is the battle log which shows a text logs of each turn/round and what action/damage was done.
Step 4: (We will ignore all areas of the Battle Screen except the Contenders Area because all the others are for info only.) The first thing you will do is find you critter, and in the lower section of your info will be a link that says 'Control'...click it.
Step 5: If it is your turn there will be a few options to make, you can either leave battle or attack. If you wish to leave you will just click the link that says forfeit battle. If you wish to fight you will select the option to attack from the first drop down box, and the critter you are attacking from the second drop down menu. Once you have done this hit the button next to the drop downs to perform the action you selected. Once this is done, the log will populate with the results, and it will be the next persons turn.
Step 6: Wait for opponent to take his turn, this could take a day or two depending on how ofter your opponent checks the site. It could also take 30 seconds if he/she is currently viewing the fight since all actions are automatically updated on the screen thanks to AJAX technology.
Step 7: Repeat steps 5 and 6 until either you die, kill the other persons critter, or decide to forfeit the match. If you decide to forfeit...you will do so during your turn in step 5. Congratz, you now know how to BATTLE!
Some info for you:
-If you reach 0 health, your critter WILL die, and you won't beable to use or care for it any more unless you pay the 500 point resurrection fee from the graveyard.
-You will earn experience after each attack, this is based on your level versus the opponents level on how much you will actually receive. If you get 100% exp, you will gain a new level.
Death Of A Critter: A Sad Time
Let us begin with the ways a critter can die. 1. Hunger - If your critter stays at 100% hunger, it will slowly lose health per day. If it health reaches 0, your critter will die. 2. Battles - During a Battle, your critter will die if it's health reaches 0 (so quit before you die ) 3. Training - During training your critter can die in the same manner as mentioned above in a Battle 4. Termination Clinic - You can pay to have your critter 'put to sleep'. This costs 7500 points. (why would you do this?...you can have 5 Critters at a time...so if you are full and want a new one...you will have to either do this to one of your Critters, or kill it off by fighting [fighting is cheaper...])
So, as you can see, there are a few ways to have a critter die. Make sure when you are battling and training that you are watching the health of your critter the entire time. If you don't want your critter to die in battle, make sure you quit when you see that his health is lower than what you are normally getting hit for. (also note, certain magic skills used against your critter can kill your critter quickly...so be wary of those)
What do you do if your critter is dead? Well here you have 3 options: 1. Who cares - Leave it alone and make a new one now, it wasn't a good critter anyway. Losers are meant to die right? 2. Memorial - For a fee you can get a gravestone for your deceased critter. You will get a gravestone that has the life time of your critter (born-died) and can also write a few words to put on the gravestone if you want. 3. Resurrection - For a large fee (500 points) you can bring your critter back to life. The critter will be resurrected with the same stats it had when it died and no hunger and full health.
Need More Money?
Go to the Casino!
If you are short on points and willing to take chance to get some more you can go to the casino and gamble on current battles.
Step 1: Go to the casino.
Step 2: Buy a betting slip. This is a link to the lower left of the 'Gambling Slips' Category.
Step 3: Choose a battle. You will be able to pick a battle from the drop down list. You can choose started or unstarted battles. (note: if you pick a battle with no participants, you will get an error)
Step 4: Choose your pick. You can now choose a critter from the active participants drop down. As long as 1 critter is signed up to battle you can choose. I would suggest waiting until all the Critters have joined though. It would suck for you if you pick a lvl 3 when he signs up, but then he has to battle a level 10 critter...there goes your points...
Step 5: Wait...now you just have to wait for the battle to end and hope you were right about the pick.
Step 6: End of Battle: Once a battle is over you will need to go back to the casino. If you made the wrong pick, you will see no active tickets for you, your points are gone so go to your room and have yourself a nice cry. But if you were right, you can claim your ticket (it's a little link to the right that says 'Claim Slip'...go figure...) Depending on the odds that were shown for the critter you picked you will get back a certain multiple of your money.
Here's for those who tend to go for a less honorable way of getting stuff.
Stealing Items:
Step 1: The Profile
Go to the victim's public profile. You can do that by clicking the person's name on one of his/her posts and on the drop down menu clicking View Public Profile, by clicking the person's name on a menu on the site or even by doing a search on the Advanced Search menu.
Step 2: Stealing
After you are seeing the victim's profile, go down to My Itemz Inventory (the last window on the left). There you'll see the person's items and the last option to the right is Steal. Click there and press Ok.
Step 3: The Success Check or Oh, The Drama
After you agree to steal the item you'll have a success check. The success rate for stealing is 10%. Should you manage to steal the item, it'll be relocated to your own inventory. If you fail, in addition to not getting the item you'll also lose 20% of your points and 10 reputation.
Stealing Critters:
Step 1: Locate the critter
First off you'll have to find the critter you want to steal. You can do that by clicking it on one of the owner's posts, through the menus around the site or via Public Profile (check Step 1 from Stealing Items).
Step 2: Stealing
After you are seeing the critter you want to steal, go to the right bottom of the critter Status. There you'll see the Steal buttom. Just click it and press Ok.
Step 3: Praying (just figure of speech)
The same rate of stealing items is applied (10% success). Should you manage to steal the critter, it'll be relocated to your own profile. If you fail, in addition to not getting the critter you'll also lose 50% of your points and 10 reputation.
Ps: To steal a critter, you must have at least one critter slot left.
And that's it. Now you're ready to go around trying to steal other's stuff and most likely losing a lot of points and rep. I wish you bad luck.
"OMG I'll have to go on a trip with my parents for a week! My critters will die before I get back!"
No worries, there is a solution: the Kennels!
How to check in a critter in the Kennels:
Step 1: Going to the Kennels
To enter a critter in the Kennels you'll have to go there first. To do that youcan use the drop down Critters Menu on every website page and then select Kennels or while in any critter window select the Kennels on the top of the page.
Step 2: Entering the critter
When you're in the Kennels screen, go to the right of the critter List menu and click Enter critter. Select the critter you want to check in and choose Submit.
Step 3: Inside the Kennels
While your critter is stabled, it will be fed and taken care of, so you don't have to worry in case you go on a trip or have to stay away from the computer for a somewhat long period.
Step 4: Claiming the critter
To claim a critter, go back to the Kennels menu and choose Remove. Then you'll have to pay the fee (750 points per day) in order to check your critter out. If you don't have enough points to do that it will be stuck in there.
Critters Kennels - Give your critters their well deserved break!
So you've been around Critters for a while and noticed there are different kinds of critters? And now you're wondering how they're different from one another. Well here it goes.
Critter Types
Boosh: Boosh critters are big and strong. They have a lot of Strength and huge Defence. Their Life is also boosted. However, to compensate this, their Agility level is low. Hope not to get struck by one of those hits.
Kirog: Kirogs are primate-likely. They're the most balanced type of critter, with regular levels of Strenght, Defense and lower Agility. Their Life is also moderate.
Roid: Looking like insects, Roids are somewhat like Kirogs, as they're pretty balanced too. The main difference is that Roids have less Strenght and Defense than Kirogs, but higher Agility and Life.
Thukat: Thukats are canine-likely. With not much Strenght or Defense, their huge Agility makes them hard to hit. Life levels aren't that high either.
Zumkat: It's not only the names that are similar. Thukats and Zumkats follow the same pattern. The Zumkats, however, convert some of their little Strenght and Defense to boost Agility and increase Life a bit. They won't hurt you much when they strike, but it'll surely be frustrating trying to hit them.
Woof: Information to follow. But in brief, woof is a very well balanced critter who makes a very good companion as a decendent of a dog and who is very well rounded for battling.
Now you know more about critters biodiversity, be sure to use this knowledge in your favor, be it in battles or just to choose the type you like more.
So you have an item or a critter you think others will want and you're in need of some spare credits? Just auction it!
Auctioning an item/critter
Step 1: The auction screen
To go to the auction screen, just select Auction at the Critters drop-down menu at the navbar or from any other critter screen.
Step 2: Auctioning
At the bottom right of the auction window, click Auction. Fill in the boxes acording to your expectations (make sure to read the Instant part carefully) and choose submit. Remember there's a 15% tax on the final sale price.
Buying an item/critter from Auction
Step 1: The auction screen
To go to the auction screen, just select Auction at the Critters drop-down menu at the navbar or from any other critter screen. There, choose either from critter or Items auctions.
Step 2: Bidding
Choose the item/critter you want to bid at. Place a bid through the box. Note that if the item/critter has Instant Buy avaiable you may do so. If you don't, you'll have to wait until the auction time runs out and have the highest bid by then.
Happy bidding and good luck.
More features will be coming in the near future and this guide will be updated as and when needed to reflect that and various other things in time.
When you view someone else's critter, you will also see what they have in their inventory. You can also use these items on this person's critter - so if you're looking at my critter, see it is hungry and I have a box of biscuits, you can use the biscuits to feed it.

no, it was my mistake. you see what you have in your inventory, and can feed their critter.
So if I saw your critter was at full health, I could feed it myself using my food.
Think I've done that to a critter or two recently >.> So Did I Jr, and another critter that I've forgotten the name of >.< oh well...
On a related topic, you can steal peoples items/food from their profiles - click on their name next to their posts, click on public profile, and whatever they have in their inventory is near the bottom (with a link to Steal)
