TF Arcades Fun ChatIf you have something to discuss regarding any of the flash arcade games in TFs arcade, or any of the other games featured such as Yahtzee, Critters, Sudoku, Hangman, Ludo and the likes, then you should do so in this section.
Ok, quick runthrough about Triple Triad (As it is on TF, not FF8)
Firstly, select triad in your TF menu. Scroll to the bottom of the page then go to Battleground. Here you can select what type of match you want to play, select against Bot and lets get started.
- Pick your cards. Obviously, pick the best/only ones you have. As you buy more cards, you may have a mixed bunch that you prefer. Select opponent level (1 is recommended) And start your battle.
RULES
The rules are simple, own more cards in play than your opponent does.
You both start with 5 cards in play. That makes the score 5-5. If you take a card, this ratio becomes 6-4. (7-2, 8-2, 9-1. 9-1 is a perfect. 10-0 does not exist, ever.)
You must get at least 6-4 by the end of the battle to win. If your opponent has this, you lose!
How to take a card
The basics of winning a game, is to be able to take a card from your opponent. This is done by playing one of your cards next to an opponents...
Your card has 4 values on it. 1 for each direction. (Up, Down, left, Right).
When you place a card on the board, next to an opponent's the values will touch. If your newly placed card's stat is higher than the one it's touching, that card will be taken!
Example - If your card has 5 points on all sides, and your opponents has 4. Placing your card next to their's will take their card.
Note - diagonals mean nothing here.
Example2 - If the card you place (lets say, BiteBug Card) has 5 left, 3 right, 3 down, 1 up. Then to take your opponent's All-4's card, you must play your BiteBug to the right of it. This means your opponent's 4 and your 5 is touching. 5 is higher than 4, you take the card.
1. NO stats on the card matter when taking someone elses card EXCEPT for the numbers that are in contact.
2. Cards that are already on the board CANNOT take a card placed next to it. Only a newly laid card may take another.
3. If the numbers match, no take is awarded.
4. You may take up to 4 cards at the same time, should you happen to ever have the opportunity.
5. Even when taking more than 1 card in a single placing, no other stats matter than the ones that are touching. No bonuses and/or penalties are given to any of the other sides. (Even if youre taking a card to the right, and one below. The stats of the right-hand takeover do not effect the below takeover)
TIPS
1. Try and keep your low numbers out of reach. Best way to do this is to put them up against the edge of the board. Or indeed lay them against a card thats been laid already. Even if this is an enemy card, it CANNOT take yours once its already been laid.
2. Start off strong, dont go slapping a card into the center of the board and watch it get taken. If possible, play to a corner where both your card's in-board sides are strong.
3. Play "Open" rules! Its much easier. Check what your opponent has. If he's generally weak on the left side of his cards, play your cards to the left and try to force him to play his strong side against the wall and not against you.
4. Save up for a better pack right away. An intermediate pack will make games infinatly easier.
Slight addition to this very handy guide, for each win against the bot at the current moment you gain 200 gil regardless of which level and by how many points you win by. You at the moment do not lose any gold or any cards for losing against a bot, but against a player I think you lose some gold and a card, but Det will be altering the system in the future so this is subject to change .
Does the level of our char matter towards the lvl of the card? i.e. are we able to use cards that are higher lvl than our char?
The cards are totally independant from your RPG character, you can use any level card at any time regardless of the current status of your RPG character.

I should of read this before, I didn't really need to buy the higher level cards...well not until Det changes it anyway.

Has Det actually ever said this anywhere? If so I must of missed it.
I think you should certainly get more gil for flawless win and for higher lvl triad bot win.

Yes he has.
Although I am already seeing signs of certain people camping in the Triad arena, playing it almost to the point of abuse.
There serously needs to be a limit wacked on the amount of bot battles you can have in Triad or people are going to ruin the economy and spoil the game again, so until I figure out how to do that, the winning amount for Triad has been reduced.
... I think we still win Gil for beating players in the Arena
BabyBear! I challenge you to a battle in the Arena!
... nm, just seen your character stats >.< not much of a challenge xD
hmm...
Since i get max 11 exp from a battle... i can't seem to be bothered to lvl my char
I just mean i think you should gain more exp if you are able to win flawless instead of less >.< now you get more exp the more damage you receive which is just stupid : / When you got hurt more you shouldn't gain more experience
50gold a game. that means i gotta play 9 times a battle if I try to kill a mob that hurts me
I can understand that it should be limited to how much you can play but be careful you dont kill the economy the other way in you cant afford to battle for 3 days because you cant earn enough money to heal up after your battles and need to spend 3 days playing triad to make enough to buy 3 pots. If you limit this method then maybe looking at how much you win from an AI bot needs tweaking?
BB, it took me 30 battles to get off level 1... 30 battles to get off lvl 2... and 30 battles to get off lvl 3... Once you've hit lvl 4 it DOES get easier... you just gotta keep at it...
Harv, I'm sure this is just a temporary measure. I'm sure that Det (amongst the other more important things) will tweak the Triad system so it's simular to the battle system, that is, that we can only have xx amounts of games per day against bots, and are are (can't think of word >.< Damned poor volcabulary >.<) to play against other players

The monsters you fight give out enough gold to cover the cost of pots, if you are fighting mobs that you should be able to for your level, it's when people fight mobs so much higher level than them that it starts costing more, that's where strategy is supposed to come into it, it's not meant to be a stroll in the park, you should have to think about your play, that's what should make it more fun.
I am trying to tweak as I go here, because the original monsters, items and spells, etc, were designed around the original format of the rpg, not after the dev did all his tweaks. The crappy dev doesn't seem to realise that people put a lot of time into the rpg and that it is upsetting to have to keep resetting it. You have to take into account that the dev version of this program has something like 4 career paths, 100 items in total, 25 monsters to fight, 8 spells, and very little else and that he actually resets his rpg completely when ever he feels like it.
It's all fine and dandy everyone moaning at every angle about the rpg, but I won't make changes to it which make it a walk in the park. I'm actually playing the rpg myself too and I know some bits are pretty difficult, but a little time, effort and strategic planning makes a lot of difference. Look at Cint and Mean, they are flying with their characters, Mean is even managing it without any income from posting or anything like that.
Half the fun of the RPG is missed by most people anyway, half the point of it is supposed to be about player challanging other players and having fun epic battles in the arena, all people seem interested in though is levelling. I can't actually do anything about the way people decide to play the rpg.
It's limited, it's not a full on proper game like Diablo or Mir 2, but it's a damn sight better than the actual developers version. I am also working in the background to make improvements, but I aint gonna throw half assed, half finished add-ons at people, because they are demanded otherwise people aint gonna play.
I give you all everything I have to give, I physically can't do any more than that though and I'd like people to start having a bit of patience and understanding of that. I don't want to end up seriously ill due to something which is meant to be fun.
Ok i know its been almost two years but i didnt realize this was here? Maybe i didnt use the site then but does this still work? If it isnt can we get it working again!? I loved Triple Triard!

It's not currently in operation because it is part of the RPG system and that is in the process of being given a major upgrade and as a result is offline until such time it is completed.
It will definately be making a comeback at some point later this year though, together with the new RPG system which is absolutely humungous, which is why later this year, as it needs populating with stuff and that is going to take me a long while...

Cool, well i was hoping to be able to play a triple triard system without playing the RPG, tbh i found the old RPG quite boring and dull without any nice visuals or music like other RPGs! But it would be cool to play the triple triard game say, you start off with a few cards, you fight other "bots" or monsters to claim more cards, and then fight other players to claim even more cards and maybe even a trading system.....but if the RPG is a little more interesting would be cool to have it part of that too!

Well... Now you mention that... Ermmm.....
I have the feeling that at some point in the next couple of weeks, TF will be getting a complete and independent version of Triple Triad, with way superior images to the original version.
The new RPG system once done is nothing like the original one as such by the way, the new one has a proper world that you walk around in and you can meet up with other players in there and do proper quests and the likes, as well as craft your own items and set up your own shop to sell items..... It blows the old one out of the water completely.
That's the world map... I have over 500 villages and towns planned so far, as well as over 300 caves, dungeons and the likes and that will only take up around 30% of that map.
