Australian open is going on (tennis).
Former tennis legend John McEnroe has admitted he used steroids for 6 years, same steroids were later found too strong even for a horse. Greg Rusedski got caught for use of nandrolonin. Well, he's playing like nothing happened. :lipsrseal According to British medium almost half of the ATP tour players gave positive nandrolon sample. No penalties because 1) Amounts were too low 2) It was given by ATP coaches 3) You can't give that crap even to a horse anymore. American football professional league NFL has taken a strict line against doping. Four players catched from using illegal substance may face in worst scenario a four match ban. If there will be more positives NFL is willing to negotiate for the punishments (wtf that means? lower/harder???). Even soccer or european football is fighting for pure sports. Remember dutch Edgar Davids? He got banned for four months for using steroids. ManU's Rio Ferninand 'forgot' to give his sample and had to went to audiance for 8 months. Does this make any sense? Ben Johnson, John Godina and other field sportsmen are not bigger cheaters as are these professionals, but they got lifetime stigma of not being pure sportsmen (sportswomen). So if you're not a 'real professional' you get crusified if you get caught but if you are you get a tap on your head. :shakehead |

Tennis situation is totally different. The nandrolon was found to be in supplements that the ATP official coaches gave the players and didn't know about... When it happens on a mass scale and its the ruling body at fault, they cant really punish players, it would be unfair.
It would be like the FA handing out the lucozade to the England squad in a match, that was found to contain banned drugs, and so banning the entire squad. |

I see exactly what ur saying lippow, really cool point mate, the ATP are letting players play knowing theyre influenced in some way by drugs, farsacal tbh, but theyre stars, theyre above the law
![]() Kinda makes you wounder, i mean theyre doing theyre job lol, thjey get paid to perform if u like, or to promote goods such as addidas, nike, puma and knowingly the sponsers continue to fund a player that carries drugs of sum form in theyre blood stream, these people are idols to kids, sum example theyre setting lol. But then again, they pay african kids to make trainsers, footballs t shirts ect for like a £1 a week, so its expected i suppose ![]() Last edited by Stalkst0r; 21-01-2004 at 01:52. |

Sports need a singular ruling body for drugs and other misdemeanours, so that punishment for footballers, rugby players, hockey, basketball etc is all the same. |

Then you can say it wasn't me, I got it from my sis' kids godfather's cousin who gave it to me in a package that didn't say there's illegal substance for sportsmen. The punishments in professional leagues are totally a tap on the head compared to field sports or winter sports (skiing+biathlon aso). So, either allow it on everyone or ban it for everyone and a lifetime ban no appeals! |

However, someoen saying they got it from xx and it wasn't there fault is hardly the same as the official coaches, giving officially endorsed supplements to their players which contain illegal substances. With apparently almost all the tennis players having some, its pretty obvious there's a major problem with those supplements. As such, they could hardly ban them all, as there'd be a shell of a sport left and the fact that they were given them in that way, which is totally innocent. ****ups like that will always happen and should be taken in to account. |

Hmm rumour has it that Rio couldn't give a sample cos he couldn't get a masking agent for his rather obscenely large coke habit... still, 8 months of 40,000 + quid a week for doing sweet FA is a job I'd like!!
