First things first... im scared at all the smilies im seeing at the moment flashing at me! lol That and my character cursor's flashing like that scene from Basic Instinct.
But anywayz... left work early yesterday and went to pick up my new car... T-plate Rover 214is... leather seats... alloys.. cd player... everything apart from Air-conditioning >.< Drove home in some torrential rain.. stalling it 4/5 times lol but got home safe. Went for a quick drive with my brother so I could get some petrol and try it out at speed on a 2miles stretch of 70 thats nearby. So i went to Tesco's and filled it up... strapped myself in and headed for the A-road. Got on it.. went up to the roundabout and turned around... and headed back home. However... I decided that I would go to some quite twisty roads that I know of so I could get the hang of the power steering and the feel of the car a bit better. But then was on the way there and though ... ah no... i'll go see my Nan as it was about 8:30, not too late or anything, spitting slightly. Came up to a set of crossroads which are notorious for accidents, called 'Jumpers'. Signalled right, started to move and 'crrraaaaassssssssshhhhhhhhhh'. A F-reg white Ford Escort Van had crashed into my driver side corner. I asked if my brother was ok... we were both fine, just a bruised knee and whiplash for me... nothing for him. So we got out and walekd over to see the driver of teh other car... who proceeded to shout at me 'what did you think you were doing' blah blah blah... there were two witnesses to the accident, both gave statements and helped out immensely. Best bit of it all... the car that I collided with... was being used to make pizza deliveries, possibly uninsured (driver didnt answer questions about insurance), if it was insured.... probably not for business use, and .... he had no seatbelt on! lol Idiot. Wasn't an english guy... and i've just found out he lives 30miles away from me... so what was he doing delivering pizzas!?!?!? I was breathalysed and he was due to be breathalysed at hospital, assume he passed that. I came home and straight away made notes on everything I could remember being said... and continue to do so as we speak (Police just phoned me up with his details). He has 7days to provide proof of his insurance, if not it is assumed he was uninsured, and will be arrested and prosecuted appropriately. Who's fault was it.... thats all in the air. I cannot say 100% whether the filter light was on for me to turn right. If it wasnt.. my fault, if it was... his fault. However I know he was certainly speeding, oh, and we phoned up the people who collected the cars from the sight and his is going to be tested to see whether it was roadworthy at the time of the accident. In the end of it all... im not sure what happens if its declared my fault but he was speeding, and his car was uninsured and unroadworthy... kinda interested by that myself. If my car is written-off then I get a hire car for 20days, if it can be repaired... courtesy car until it is fixed. But yes... I got back home and started to write down these notes and talk to my step dad about it all, making things as we heard a squeal and then a loud 'thump' outside. He ran and opened the lounge curtains to see a man lying on the floor in the middle of the road with a car speeding off into the distance. He rushed to help... I stayed in as I could barely walk lol and there was already 7 or so people there. Turns out the guy (22) was victim of a hit and run accident, and is now in a serious condition in hospital, if not, he's passed away. Just crazy... how things can change so much in 3.5hours... I just lay in bed in pure shock... more ****ed off that my car had been ruined over everything... just crazy. But... time to get on and look for a replacement car! lol |

lol ive been through that junction many times... used to go to 6th form down the road and whenever I go to see my Nan or Dad.
But nop... I have fully comp insurance so all will be sorted, however I would lose my one years no claims if I am found to be at fault. Oh.. the police took measurements etc, I assume to calculate the speed the two vehicles were travelling at at the time of the impact? |
