Anyone interested in Wimbledon and tennis?
Who you think is going to win for the men and for the women? Personally can't see anyone outside Federer or Nadal for the men in honesty, as much as i'd love to see a British dude win it, just can't see it ever happening. Murray is a good player, but he's not up there in the same bracket. It's a much more open race for the womens title, but besides saying it's likely to be a Russian or Serbian, I can't really narrow it down more than that. Anyway... Taking a stab in the dark, my predictions: Mens Singles: Federer Womens Singles: Sharapova Slightly less confident about Sharapova than Federer I have to say, lol. I like Wimbledon a lot, but it's just not the same without Tim Henman for me, Andy Murray doesn't compulse me to offer him the same kind of futile but passionate support that Henman always did over the years. British tennis seriously needs another Englishman to come through to fill the shoes of Henman, an anti English Scot just doesn't do it... |

I think this year.
Men's Singles: Marat Safin Women's Singles: Ana Ivanovic Well, IMO Federer is training hard his mass court technic and tricks that this year he'll be struggling in Wimbledon. Sharapova may win this year as well as she can drop on th 2nd round, she's just too unpredictable. She'll need a 'good day' to win, and lately I've seen her having those rarely. She wins low ranked players if she plays bad, but against the top ten players she'll lose. Edit: Haven't watched a single match yet and didn't know Djokovic was knocked off. Ivanovic 10-8 in the 3rd set today... looking a tad shaky.
But I hope she plays Sharapova in the final... a lovely spectacle that would be. Davyvenko took another dive for a shady gambling syndicate and Djokovic got the worst first round draw any seed could realistically get. Unlucky. Federer and Nadal, seeded 1 and 2, separate halfs of the draw, got to be them in the final really. Unless someone catches fire and plays one of them on a real off-day. *takes bum off fence* Sharapova and Nadal. It's hard to bet on tennis too, I just placed a multiple on Roddick, Hewitt, Jankovic, Ivanovic, Davenport, Murray, Haas and Blake all to win their next matches. The odds? 5-1. Rubbish. Kuznetsova is 38-1 so that would be one heck of a shout.
Venus Williams is the favourite now and I really hadn't even thought about her, possibly because my appreciation of women's tennis is more of the aesthetic. It's really hard to predict Wimbledons since it's grass, but for Andy Murray to be 3rd favourite shows a little bit of naivety from the British public, I may be made to eat my words but I really can't see him winning. He did have a very good game today though. Umm so no more Sharapova I will have to change to Venus Williams. |

Oh well, there goes another one. >< Glad I still have Kuznetsova as an option at the moment...
Womens singles is starting to look like it could go in any direction. Mauresmo looked like a ghost of her former greatness against Serena Williams, was quite sad seeing her try her heart out but simply not have what she used to. Weird really, wouldn't expect someones appendix to have that effect on them. Still can't see past Federer for the men at the mo though, he looked absolutely lethal today. |
