Popular p2p file sharing network Shareaza has been hijacked by a group calling themselves 'discordia'
the site no longer offers forums or any kind of community, and their client version 'v4' is malware infected, and asks for fees (credit card harvesting) meanwhile the original developers and community have taken temporary refuge at their sourceforge site until discordia can be shut down, rumoured to be a radical group of chaos-worshippers, discordia appear to have hijacked file compression program 7zip as well, people are being warned not to use the 'programs' being offered on these sites. the original developers of Sharaza are strictly against the distribution of copyrighted media, and spyware. |

Damned frenchies and lawyers. They actually singled out the shareaza project to Jonathan Nilson who was the technical contact of the domain shareaza.com and sued him because the real people behind the shareaza were anonymous "The Shareaza Development team" and got the possession of shareaza.com by pressuring Nilson. Well, they actually sued him, and he was having less than 2 months to give a reply to a court in France while he is living in USA. He contacted rest of the team and EFF to get some legal advice and support, but noone was offering it to him, so he was most probably forced to give the possession of shareaza.com to the french "extortionists".
Now they are trying to get trademark for shareaza name. I hope there's common sense in the US patent authorities. |
