That's right folks Kevin Keegan has returned to the toon army as manager/coch whatever they are called nowadays, and unveiled during the match between Stoke tonight.
Fans heard about the appointment some hours before and began packing the stadium almost straight away. All the fans seem to be excited and more than happy that Kevin has returned, remebering the 94/95 season when Newcastle were contending for the premiership title. Neutrals however, are more pessimistic about the move. Discuss |

I'm sure deep down Mike Ashley must be a Sunderland fan, cause he seems to be doing everything in his power to ruin the club.
I shouldn't give a shit about Keegan going back to Newcastle, but in reality i'm delighted about it, cause I can see relegation looming for the scum... I'm just wondering how soon I should put a bet on him walking out, seeing as he's done it from every club he's ever managed, including newcastle during his last reign. Can't believe the fans are hailing him as the messiah, they really must be deluded. Ahhh remember this one: |

I'd say blind and stupid rather than loyal...
Well that is until they don't win some sliverware this season and they turn on him after 10 games like they do with every other manager they've had in the last XX amount of years. The only reason they are happy now is because they are stuck in memory lane after Keegan gave them attacking football last time round, even though their defence was even more holy than the pope. I have to say though, it should make for a much more fun derby game between then and Sunderland, so it is exciting in that aspect for me. |

If you score 5 we will score 6 and it you score six we will score 7!
GENIUS! I think the toon has slowly (AT BLOODY LAST) copme to realise that there not actually as good as they think they are. The main reason for the fans anger has and always will be that they are paying a lot of money to see the match and they dont want to watch CRAP! So if its entertaining and we loose 4-3 then at least we got our moneys worth, and who knows if he gets the support and the time.......... |

What Newcastle fans seem to be demanding is 4-3 victories and Arsenal style pure football week in, week out and if it's not instant in coming and a permanent every single week feature, the fans get restless and start demanding blood. What you Newcastle fans need to do for once is give a decent manager a chance, instead of having unreasonably high expectations. Newcastle is no bigger a club than Sunderland and Boro have been more successful than both teams of late. Both teams are stuck in this eternal rut of having once had major success at the moment and the fans are hungry to see that success again, Sunderland fans have a lot more patience though for some reason or another. It will be interesting to see how Keegan gets on though, makes you wonder if the two years away from being a manger will have taught him what the term defence means. |

i think it is a interesting appointment and will be looking forward to seeing how it turns out. Im hoping Keegan does a good job because it is getting impossible at Newcastle if it isnt already.
I still dont think the fans will be happy till they get shearer which i dont think will work |

As has been getting discussed on my local Sunderland forum, we are kind of at the conclusion that the position of manager at Newcastle has become impossible ow directly because of the myth of the messiah Shearer and until they actually appoint him and see him either fail miserably or actually maybe succeed if he's lucky, the fans will be making a grumbling noises with every defeat that Shearer could do better. The chairman has to dispell the myth so the fans can get over it and get their feet back on the ground and actually realise that the club needs a good manager and needs the manager to be given enough time to actually put the club in order. Shearer is unintentionally creating a dark shadow for every Newcastle manager now, simply down to the urban legend that is building that he is the Geordie messiah and it won't go away until he's had his shot at it.
