PS3 Backwards Compatibility Fixed

While the complete change log of the latest PlayStation 3 update (v1.50) is still conspicuously absent from public eye, it's been widely reported that Sony has corrected the fugly resolution issues that plagued PS1 and PS2 titles (those not originally coded for 480p output) when played on the new rig. That's right, no more (unprecedented) artifacts and jaggies. Huzzah!

Note: the fix does not upscale the original resolutions of PS1 or PS2 games.

For those that didnt know games use to look like this on the PS3:


The cases of bleeding eyes should stop not (unless you play Farcry on the Wii )

As well as the jagged lines it washed out the colour, we have seen this with game ported from the 360. I wanna know what the hecks up with this issue?

It's good that games are getting fixed, just one thing annoys me though is the issue with the memory card.

You have to get a seperate adapter in order to put your memory card into the PS3, which btw is pretty non-existant in the States >.<

All you get is a media reader =/

I still find it utterly hilarious that a machine touted as being so much better than the 360 can't upscale it's previous console's games when the 360 pulls it off beautifully. Admittedly backwards compatibility on the 360 is a trickier beast, but I'd take quality over quantity any day.

thats because the 360 has a scaler chip inside it and the ps3 doesnt, also the 360's B/C is emulated in software while the ps3 has the ps1/ps2 hardware inside and sony have said they would rather support all of their library then go the only some are available route.

id rather be able to play all my ps1/ps2 titles then only being able to play a few of them anyway, im sure alot of people would agree with me and wouldnt be too impressed not being able to play many of their games.


edit: news just released, the ps3 actually does have a scaler chip but it wasnt available to developers until now....might see upscaled games very soon if this is true O.o
