PS1 Games To Cost $5 On PS3

Hardcore Casual Gamer highlights two decisions that suggest Sony is handling some PlayStation 3 issues correctly. First, the online PlayStation Store will not confuse or frustrate shoppers with a deceptive points system; and second, downloadable (original) PlayStation games will cost just $5.

Yep a good price in my eyes, especially since they can be played on a PSP (may consider one then if they cheap)

Main point is they are the same price as SNES games and lower then N64 games on the Wii, so hopefully it will make Nintendo lower the price.

Although Sony doesnt understand conversion rates so i bet that will equal £10 here.

think thats a lil steep imo. only PS1 games that r really worth that much r the final fantasties, all the rest i wudnt pay more than £2 seeing as u can buy most PS1 games for around 99p

For Castlevania: sotn it would be worth it I guess... most other PS games I wouldn't pay that much for.

Put it this way 99% of those PS1 games will be better then PS3 games for a long while and it 8 of them for a PS3 price tag.

Yeah you'd be lucky to get some of the classics for 99p, games like MGS, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy VII and pretty much the rest of the above list I would gladly pay $5 for or whatever the conversion rate is considering they are overpriced on eBay as it is, bit of a bargain if you ask me.

its a good idea, but i dont think they will do it for the PSP. PSPs are cheap enough now anyway on ebay. you pay more for the 1.5 Firmwares, but you can get a 2.0 2.5/2.6 firmware and downgrade it if you want homebrew.

the only way i can see it working for the PSP is if they release a patch on the 3.0 update.... ill keep my eye out

No they are doing it for the PSP, you DL them on PS3 and they can be tranfered to play on PSP.

Hope Nintendo create a memory card that alows this for Wii

The ps1 game list you made has some great games but do not even compare to ps2 titles let a lone ps3 games

That's great, and a good price, especially compared to Nintendo's prices.

About the PSP though...I doubt you can play them on the PSP. It has no PS1 emulation despite being powerful enough. Unless Sony either

a) re-write the games for PSP (unlikely and would require 3rd parties for most games), or

b) write a really good PS1 emulator for the PSP

I can't see it happening.
