UK, July 17, 2008 - Concrete details about Sony's plans for the PlayStation 3's new budget platinum range have emerged, with a number of first generation titles to be repackaged with an new price tag of just under £20, with the first batch coming on August 1.

The initial titles in the new range will be MotorStorm, Uncharted, Resistance: Fall of Man, Heavenly Sword and Ratchet & Clank 3, with Assassin's Creed and Virtua Tennis 3 set to join them in the following weeks.

Whilst undoubtedly a good deal, a cursory glance at a number of leading online retailers reveals that some of the titles are already available for under the proposed £20 price point - minus the somewhat unsightly re-branding of the platinum range - and if you can bring yourself to handle soiled goods they can all be found on ebay for considerably less than the new price point.

I don't understand the point they were trying to make with the last paragraph you quoted tho, second hand copies of games being cheaper than brand new copies is hardly breaking news, and if the design of the platinum cover bothers anyone that much couldn't they just print the origional artwork and slide it into the sleeve?
