I don't think that he is giving religion a bad name to be honest, I think he is simply giving himself a bad name, by being such an extremist.

Looking at that, it seriously looks staged to me though, but you do get extremists like that throughout the whole world, not just America and not necessarily just preeching about that particular topic, but preeching one thing or another.

"God will forsake us all, should we fail to clense those that sin..." If you are a believer in god and religion, it's easy to see how similar rantings by people like him, could convince and brainwash people into compliance to their ways, to try and get them to believe they will be forgiven for past sins, so long as they rant like lunatics and also made regular donations of course.

I believe in myself and my ability to choose the correct path through life and that so long as I learn from past mistakes, I will improve my knowledge and will fulfil my own destiny in the best possible way I can.... <-- See, that's my personal lifes mission statement, but even that sounds bloody nuts written down like that.

Nah, you could hear him saying that he had booked that little public speaking plaza thing for an hour. He was only just some weird guy letting off steam at the world. I bet they have open air plays and the like there, he wasn't so different to stuff like that.
I don't know about in america, but here there are quite a few of the older generation who think like that, shame they will all be dead soon and society will be better equipped to address issues rationally. Apart from Muslems obviously because they are apparently growing in number.
