Very interesting article about the current situation in Pakistan and its routes.
Gary Leupp: The U.S. and Pakistan After 9/11 My thinking is the article is fairly accurate, and a pretty good indiicator of the causes of the current instability. Thoughts? |

I've watched a few programs and read a few articles which mirror part of the views published there and I agree with some of the points. Having watched Michael Moores 9/11 documentary and believe a lot of what is disclosed there though, despite some people calling it bull and Michael Moore and idiot, I tend to think that there has to be truth in his work and that there is a lot more to the US war/profit machine than is being allowed to be open and publically knowledgable, I believe there are a lot more darker, hidden secrets and cloak and dagger type activities going on than we all know about.
My big gripe with the passage is that it really skirts around the biggest most fundamental reasons for US aggressive actions against any of the countries and peoples they've decided to be against and that is FINANCE. The US government seems to be partially driven by an inherited paranoia that unless the country as a whole is kissing US arse on a daily basis, such as the UK and in part Israel they are a potential threat, competition and enemies and should be treat as such, but fundamentally and primarily the US government seems driven entirely by financial viability and gain. It's a well known common fact that war can be and is profitable, especially when large rebuilding contracts are concerned and the US government has been playing on that for a few decades now, not only for stuff such as the oil in Iraq and Kuwait, but for the fact that when ever a country is flattened or ruined by war, big corporations then come in to do the rebuilding job and as can be witnessed in Iraq, most of the companies used for the rebuild and to re-establish an economy in the country were/are American and it's allies. (I'll continue with my thoughts on this later, after more thought on the subject) |

Just curious, but what is it about Michael Moore that makes you think he's an idiot?
Surely he's just saying out loud what a lot of people either think or suspect? I've bookmarked that website, I've found some of the articles very interesting. I do find it a bit of a fine line between conspiracy theory and actual fact though, there's so many gray areas and bits which overlap. Military Industrial Complex <-- Have to admit though, the actual terminology there is new to me, I understand the meaning, but had never heard that actual term. |

I think its more that youve got this guy trying to proove conspiracies and show that the government or whoever does certain reports are all lying, but he's destroyed his own credibility by doing the exact thing he accuses the government of doing in the opposite slant.
Particularly his 9/11 documentary iirc (wasnt that loose change with some of his own crap bolted on?) was full of quotes from the one spacker in the crowd of thousands watching who thought they saw mr blobby jump from a window. I quite like his reports and movies in the sense of giving the entirely opposite slant on things, but i guess hes an idiot because hes destroyed his own credibility by going a bit too far in the rediculous accusations and conspiracies over the years. |
