Fringe starts or started on Sky1 around this weekend.
It's the new concept from Jeff Abrahms, or JJ as he likes to be known (sounds gay), who is the bloke who invented the programme Lost.
This new one he has made up in his brain is about a small FBI cadre who investigate weird phenomenons. No I'm not confusing it with the X-Files...
But there are similarities. There are also obvious differences. There are no ghosts or aliens or any of that crap in Fringe, although sometimes it seems it must be something like that, it always turns out to be science.
That bloke from Dawson's Creek, I can't remember his name right now, not the main guy, anyway he is in it. There is a pretty lady as well, she is the lead character although they are obviously the Mulder and Scully of Fringe. But the best character of all is Pacey's dad who is a mad crazy old scientist who used to do secret work for the CIA but they broke him out of a funny-farm (like Murdock from the A-Team) and he helps them. The crazy old guy really makes this show for me, it would be fine without him, but his deadpan delivery of utterly hilarious shit is masterful.
There are really nice effects and the whole 'Wtf is going on?' theme of Lost is definitely present. But Abrahms has learned his lesson this time and each episode can stand alone as a fun drama. There is an overarching mystery which regular viewers will enjoy also.
Sky+ this show honestly it's good. If you miss it then hinternets it.
Quickly became one of my new favourite genre show , got a bit saggy in the middle of the season , but I reckon this one could run for the full 6 or 7 seasons . Another hit from JJ
I missed the first episode when it came back on, so have not seen the last few episodes. Hopefully I will before the next season comes though, providing there actually is one. Great show, some well thought out characters and some seriously bizarre gadgetry and invention type stuff.
Any confirmation that it's got another season to follow?
