Total Recall movie 'to be remade'

Arnold Schwarzenegger's 1990 sci-fi thriller Total Recall is being remade, according to reports.
Trade newspaper The Hollywood Reporter said Kurt Wimmer, who penned the 1999 version of The Thomas Crown Affair, is currently working on a script.
Film studio Columbia Pictures, which secured the film's rights in February, has said the remake will be a "contemporised adaptation".
It has not been announced who is being considered for the lead role.
The original film was based on the Philip K Dick story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale.
It follows a man who is haunted by a recurring dream of travelling to Mars - where he has never been - and a woman he has never met.
The ultra-violent film, from the creators of Alien, has since become a cult classic.
Sharon Stone and Rachel Ticotin also starred in the movie.

Some things are best left untouched and that is seriously one such thing in my opinion.

I can't see a remake of such a classic film turning out to be anything other than utter crap, sadly.

All they seem to be doing in Hollywood at the moment, is trying to keep the ever hungry cash monster (otherwise known as movie companies and actors) well fed, regardless of everything else, especially quality.

Yeah, I can't see it having the same impact as the original.

Probably because Total Recall was made pre-CGI and therefore they had to use models for Arnie's head etc, Hollywood thinks they can tart it up with a few new fancy SFX.

I hope they at least keep the three-breasted woman!

Funny, was saying only the other day about how this movie was quite timeless in that it was still good to watch now.

Hollywood need to stop churning out high budget low quality crap and start supporting independent films. Some new stories, without cookie cutter plots and predictability would be so nice.
