Wot no polls?

I was just going to make a poll in chilled out chit chat. Is the function disabled or am I to mentally challenged to work out how to do it? Vote now!

Polls have never ever been a personal option for members and that isn't going to change.

If a member wants a poll making the very simple thing to do, as has always been the case, is contact a member of the team and request the said poll. Should it be an acceptable subject for a poll it will be made at the first available and practical opportunity.

Inevitable poll request:

Should be trusted to make our own polls?
a: Yes by golly, we're all perfectly reasonable and sensible adults.
b: No we are all too stupid to be trusted alone on the interweb.
c: Can't make my mind up.

Request denied on the basis that i've already explained exactly what the situation is regarding polls on Total Format and that the subject is not a debate or something which is open to change.

Polls on most big sites have to be requested by a moderator as they are very easy to get wrong and have always been a subject for controversy.

If, as said by Det, you desperately want a poll to be made about a thread posted then pm a member of the team and ask or even post a request in the thread and if it seems reasonable then one will be made - like the cats and dogs thread for example. Saw that as a resonable thread to have a poll on but worded the question in such a way that the poll on the front page would make sense to a non-member.

The main problem is that polls appear in more than just the thread they appear in so have to be worded properly for the sites other uses. end of day how hard is it to ask for one to be made rather than do it anyway.

I see. It is a shame that this is how it is.

Sometimes you might just want to ask random questions and a poll is the best way to do it, questions that aren't necessarily front page material, like should I paint my arse green or yellow and other random yet important issues.
