Default SO i got a Wii last night

So a few months ago me and my friend were walking round town on one of our usual “nothing to do” type days and we saw game were pre-ordering Wii’s. Being an avid Nintendo fan since about age 5 when I got the NES for Christmas I decided to put my name down with my friend.

Not really being a huge games fan anymore I forgot about it until about 2 weeks ago when I received a call saying I was 3rd on the list (my friend being second) and I could either pick it up at midnight or they would reserve it until Saturday.

Now since my friend works in the centre of Leeds until 10pm we decided to meet up after he finished work, go for a few drinks and pick it up. So I get up at 5am on Thursday, go to work get home about 8pm get changed and drive off to the centre of Leeds to meet my friend.

The store opened at 10 pm so we went down to see how busy it was and they gave us a ticket number (number 73 and 74 we got) and off we went for a few drinks.
We came back about 12.30am and my god I have never seen so many stereotypical geeks/nerds in my life :O it was full with them (I was kinda embarrassed to be there actually)

Anyway they called the next number out, number 12….wtf its been 30 mins and there only on number 12?? So we went off for something to eat and came back about 1ish (this is when I had to be up for work again at 5am) and they call out number 42. So off we go to see my other friend whos working as a bouncer at Hi-Fi.

At about 1.30am we go back and finally its number 66. So we decided to wait the rest of the time with the guys playing DS’s people who already have them just stood around the store chatting (You’ve got it! Go home already!!) number 68 is called and this guy goes up, and its one of the usual 1000 question guys, does it do this, can I do this with it, what happens if I set it on fire etc etc

Anyway 15 mins later my number is finally called and I go up to the till, give this lass my ticket and get my stuff (got Zelda, Rayman, red steel, an extra controller and nun chuck and the console of course)

So there we are about 2am walking through the centre of Leeds back to my car with a huge ‘Game’ bag in our hands walking past all the clubs, all the people who have actually spent here night getting ****ed lol trying to remember where I parked and trying not to show he fact we spent our night cueing for a games console instead of actually having a good night out.

I give my friend a lift home, drove the ½ a mile to my house where I find my brother eagerly waiting at the door. So he’s like did you get it (when I’m carrying a huge game bag that says ‘Wii’ on it) so I say yes, goodnight I’m off to bed. So about 3am when im trying to get the most of my 2 hours sleep before my 12 hour shift he comes up and says “can I play on it?”

Being the very good brother I am I say yes I suppose. I get up at 5 for work and hes still there, Zeldering away like a king. And i just shook my head and off I went . Just rang my house now and he answered, hes still playing on it :O I was just like for gods sake go home and get some sleep.

Anyway, that’s my tale of the Wii, and I will never go to a midnight launch ever again lol. From what I saw, it looked pretty good. Since im at work now, and im seeing the g/f tonight and working then going out tomorrow not going to get much chance to have a go his weekend, but my brother seems somehow addicted. He will probs still be there when I get home from work around 8ish.

(Edit: I didnt think it was that long while i was typing, my break must be almost over)

It was the year of rebirth, a year of great sadness, a year of pain, and a year of joy.
It was a new age. It was the end of history. It was the year everything changed.

So you've not played on it yet should have phoned in sick to work!
Was talking with a flatmate last night saying that we should go into Leeds and mug some of the geeks as their leaving the city centre with their new Wii's in hand.
