Big Wii Shortage In UK

It just had to be the UK, if only for poignancies sake. Long hailed as the most neglected major market by Nintendo, UK Wii fans have had to sit and watch this week as puny little Australia was flooded with Wiis, while their own stocks look more than a little paltry by comparison.

A few readers have sent us a copy of an e-mail sent to them by Woolworths, a major British department store, stating:


"Nintendo have only shipped part of the promised stock for Nintendo Wii to all retailers within the UK. Due to this, we have only received part of our allocation. We are led to believe by Nintendo that we will receive all stock in time for pre-Christmas delivery. Please accept our apologies for this delay."


Ouch. Nothing like kicking a market when they're down, hey Nintendo? Here's hoping for the UK's sake it's only Woolworth's shipments that have come up short.

Gameplay have sent out email telling people that they wont recive one launch day as well.

Not me luckly after a PM to one of the team there, they say i am fine for tomorrow

If it's not Farepak, it's Nintendo trying to play the part of Scrooge. I wonder which other companies wil want to join that exculsive club.

Take this for what its worth, but my friend phoned Game to check on his order, and they told him they had only 1 copy of red steel and 1 copy of Wiiplay for every 4 wii units.

Wonder if thats the same everywhere.

already bought myself zelda lol, just had to get it n read the manual even tho i cant play it yet >.< lol

I just so really can't do that.

When I get a new game, I have to be able to put it straight in and be playing it immediately, with the instruction manual normally thrown across the room at the same time.

I expected it tbh, it happens with all UK console launches which is one reason I am waiting until next year for mine. That plus the majority of the launch games are pants looking.

I was kinda expecting this. When I pre-ordered my Wii on game, it said it little warning that it doesn't mean I get on lanuch that I may have to wait. I don't mind that though, I can't play it until New year when I finally arrive home

I've read that their already sold out, but I'm hoping on the good old North East of England clause which means I should be able to walk into a highstreet store on the 8th and buy one over the counter without any problems (or in this case have my mother do it as I'm not at home).
And least we forget everyone always forgets that shops like Tesco's also stock them, I remember my brother managing to get a PSP two days after launch in a Tesco's no problems.
I wish I had pre-ordered one though, was hoping for one for crimbo but thats fallen through >_<'

i knew of at least one dodgy place in manchester that has been selling them *wink wink nudge nudge* like since wednesday, however im sure they'll be going to court very shortly
