Now we all hear the mutters that the Wii is just a novelty at the end of the day, but I would like to know what people think could make the Wii better.
What do you think could be done to improve the all round perception of the Wii as a novelty? And what could be done to improve what has already made it so successful? Has Nintendo abandoned loyal followers for the casual crowd? Yes? No? Let's hear some mixed opinons on this matter. Last edited by X-Buster!; 10-05-2008 at 16:34. |

I love the Wii. I don't own one, but dearly want one as I know me and Robyn would get a lot of fun for one. If I had an XBox 360 or PS3 i'd be sat playing it on my own, just the way I do with PC games, so there's no point at all in me getting one, but with the Wii, I know the style of games for it are the type that Robyn would be able to enjoy playing with and against me and that there is no serious over micromanagement within the games to detract from the fun of them, which a lot of games out there for other formats tend to have.
I would say it is impossible for the Wii to have shown disloyalty to Nintendo fans, as in my opinion Nintendo has stuck by their whole ethos, which is fun gaming which is basically pick up and play and as ever Nintendo has stuck by the principle that their console is aimed at and intended for social groups, families and fun, fun, fun, which in essence is casual gaming. The Wii is a novelty item, there is no getting away from that, but it's not a 5 minute wonder novelty item, like say Tamagotchi or yoyo's, the Wii has a very long playability factor, together with cool family orientated games which can keep people amused for a long long time and above all a collection of games and gadgets to come which are limited only by their designers imaginations. I honestly think it is not right that people put the Wii into the same bracket as the PS3 and XBox 360 to a degree, as the PS3 and XBOx 360 are for much harder core players than the Wii and the Wii has never contested that fact in my opinion. I really think that the target audioence of the Wii is a different audience than that of the other two consoles and that it is the PS3 and XBox 360 fighting a two way fight for a similar audience, while the Wii has an almost free reign over it's own chosen audience. |

I bought mine for the kids, and when I saw them play Mario Galaxy I thought I would never be interested in playing it as it looked too confusing , what with Mario going upside down and everything.
![]() I was totally wrong, I loved it, one night I was actually on it for about five hours just running around, not just on Mario but the sports one, brain training and Harry Potter. ![]() Like Det said this is a family computer, we got Mario Party 8 today and it's fantastic, with three controllers all of them can play at the same time, no moaning that it's their turn or that the others won't let them have ago. Bliss. ![]() IMHO the Wii blows all the others out of the water in terms of family entertainment. ![]() |

We opted to get the xbox 360 for christmas last year but after a friend visited us, bringing his wii with him its now on the list for this christmas, unless we get a flush month (or asda get their finger out of their @ss and pay their employees the back pay they owe them).
We had loads of fun with it and out of all the consoles that where availible that weekend the wii was the one played the most and not just by the kids. |

The Wii is a great console for multi players its not a major player in the solo market although it still has a few games that the controller is superb for.
Its definitely a party/family console and gives hours of enjoyment from simple games ![]() I think they need to make the online element more appealing to make it start to become a solo players console. Even just making the Internet browser better with more add-ins enabled would help, but what they really need to do is introduce a horde of cool channels that start to push the console a bit. When they do that then the solo conquest of this console in my eyes will start to take off. Unfortunately I think the PS3 will over take the Wii eventually and its popularity because of the promises of Nintendo backing will fall to the wayside ![]() |

all thats needed is a long winded game.....not super high graphics..
something like a pokemon online mmorpg!! imagine the possibilities not asking for WoW or something like that but a fun online game with levels and weapons and add ons something that you can improve on... so far i have only played mario karts and super striker online but they all work on a point system rather then some cash and a character i can develop myself Last edited by Fredrick; 13-05-2008 at 10:21. |

The attachments like the baseball bat, golf club etc are just plastic that your remote slots into, and are just to make it feel more like your playing the game. Not sure about the streering wheel tho. |
