Musicians, Events, Concerts and BandsIf you are a musician, are currently in or looking for a band or new band members, want to share your music, want to share gig info and stuff like that, post here.
wish i could play an instrument, always wanted to play guitar and piano, but i have horrible short fat fingers so no chance there, plus i'm left handed, is there no end to my woes?
Actually, I play bass, my wife plays guitar and sings, and my kids play sax and flute. Everyone dabbles on the piano. We have many friends who play, plus our annual Riverside Jam, which has 20-30 musicians gathering to jam and give one performance.
Nice, hope your all sorted soon, I can only imagine that it must have been a right mission what you've been through with your move.
Gotta have your music, helps keep you calm during the testing times of unpacking, hehe.
Finally sold the prior house, so everything is really good. Unpacking boxes could take years
The wife's job is great, and mine is getting better. We're starting to find restaurants and other places of interest. We've met a few neighbors, but making friends takes years.
And the view outside the window is still wonderful. Thanks for your interest.
How does it work with the band though? I thought they all lived back where you were before you moved?
We know musicians from all over, near and far. Every year we have a big jam, but it moves around. It's been held in Chicago, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Minneapolis. I think I mentioned that we went to a jam just outside Liverpool over Easter. We've never really had a "band", just a collection of friends who would come over when invited. Some of the old players will fade, and we'll meet new ones. My new workplace has several musicians, so the prospects here are good.
I'll be hosting the Riverside Jam in 2010. And a few of us are planning a reverse invasion for a Merseyside Jam, maybe in 2009. Much of this is discussed at GuitarNoise.com (plug), which has a large UK contingent.
Allanon - Det refered to my TF-blog postings, where I complained mightily about the process. We moved from Connecticut (50 miles from NYC) to Pennsylvania (30 miles from Philly), in July. Things are much better now.
