Reading & Leeds Festival 2005 Line-ups Revealed

The big names for the Carling Weekend: Reading & Leeds Festival 2005 have been confirmed, Total format can reveal.

This year’s event takes place between August 26 and 28 at Richfield Avenue in Reading and Bramham Park in Leeds and will see Pixies, Foo Fighters and Iron Maiden headline over the three days.

“I can’t wait to play Reading this year,” Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl said, of returning for the band’s second headline appearance. “The festival has always been a really good show for us and I’m looking forward to playing there again this year.”

Joining these bands in the first wave of the line-up announcement are big hitters including Queens Of The Stone Age, Kasabian and Elbow.

With The Killers bagging an impressive slot below headliners Pixies – something The Killers’ spokeswoman admitted they were “very excited about” as they’re all massive Pixies fans.

Other bands joining them at the Carling Weekend: Reading & Leeds festivals include Kings Of Leon, Razorlight and The Coral.

Additionally, the festival’s traditional rock day (Friday in Leeds and Sunday in Reading) is among its strongest ever with British metal veterans Iron Maiden and Marilyn Manson topping the bill.

Babyshambles have been confirmed too, and Pete Doherty admitted after missing out last year with The Libertines, he can’t wait for August.

"I am especially looking forward to these shows,” he explained. “They are obviously quite special to me after what happened last year."
