CHEERLEADERS HIT NOTTINGHAM THIS MONTH

The pom poms are out and the final preparations are being put in place as nearly 3,000 cheerleaders head to Nottingham Arena.
From Friday 28th to Sunday 30th July it’s the BCA British and International Cheerleading Championships. 236 teams from 62 different clubs are making their way to Europe’s largest and fastest growing cheer event.
The competitors are coming from all over the world to take part in the 17th annual event. Two regional teams are also taking part in the event the ‘Derby Diamonds’ and from Leicester, the ‘Premier Stars’.
It will be almost non stop action for the three days with spectators treated to 382 different, high energy routines.
Cheerleading combines cheers, chants, dance, jumps, tumbling partner stunts and pyramid building and it is one of the fastest growing sports in Britain.
Representatives from top US cheerleading organisations will be judging the entrants. They’ll be handing out over 200 trophies including some almost a metre tall and the nine main trophies have been sponsored by the Hard Rock Café Nottingham.
Tickets for the Championships are priced at £7 for adults and £4.50 for concessions per day (plus booking fee).
