The greatest vocalist who ever lived has to be Freddie Mercury. His music was so powerful it inspired thousands.

Other singers who deserve recognition are:

Roger Waters - Pink Floyd
Axl Rose - Guns N Roses
Billie Joe Armstrong - Green Day
Anthony Kiedis - R.H.C.P
Kurt Cobain - Nirvana
Ozzy Osbourne - Black Sabbath
Vince Neil - Motley Crue
Chris Cornell - Audioslave

I'd like to add;

James Hetfield (Metallica)
Jon Davis (Korn)
Bruce Dickinson (Maiden)
Till Lindemann (Rammstein)
Aaron Lewis (Staind)
Serj Tankian (SOAD)

All good vocalists with either good versatility or just a strong deep voice.

Also, are you Jesse Leach fans on crack? All he did was shout on Killswitch Engage, hardly a good vocalist. Howard Jones brought us a much wider range, much more emotion and power in The End Of Heartache.

You cant even voice an opinion after stating Aaron Lewis's name.

indeed, once you've removed the ponce-metal element of your selection, i'll accept your view on Jesse Leach

Ponce metal?

I'm afraid I don't understand most of these terms that get thrown around music discussions these days.

I was under the impression this thread was about vocalists, not whether their band(s) are 'ponce-metal' or not.

I've just re-listened to Killswitch Engage and I could hardly make a word out, never mind a sentence. But the incoherent screaming was very good, I'll give you that. I'll go as far as to say he'd make a better football hooligan than Lewis or Dickinson.

Is it just because Killswitch went 'mainstream' with The End of Heartache and Howard Jones that you don't like him? Is it cooler to prefer Leach

And man, if you think the bands I mentioned in my previous post make my opinion worth less, wait til I tell you about my rap collection.

Rock - Axl rose has a very good voice, well, it suits the music. He isn't a choir boy but it goes well with the music. HOWEVER, Alice Cooper just has such a great voice, he can really portray emotion just through the way he sings.
Punk - Don't listen to much punk really. I despise "Nu punk" and I just don't listen to much real punk. But I'd have to say the lead singer from the ramones or Jonny Rotten.
Metal - Bruce Dickinson, just a great voice.
