Not sure how many Metallica fans we have here. I think Det and Sash are/were and possibly Seth.
Anyway, the new album is due out September and what I've heard of it sounds awesome . Seems like they're going back to a more old-school, thrashier sound which suits me just fine.
They have a site where, if you sign up, you can view short little videos of the recording process and what not. They also have free full length live shows to download. The site is MISSION: METALLICA. (little preview of the new album at the end of the 'trailer' video on the main page).
Was just wondering if we do have any metallica fans here and what your views are on the forthcoming album? While I didn't mind St Anger, I don't consider it in the same ball park as any of their other stuff. I think they want to distance themselves from that album as well, not playing it live and going back to an older sound. I know most of the fans completely refuse to acknowledge its existence . Quite a lot view this as Metallica's last chance to prove they still have it.
i kinda gone off them since after the black album, but if there going back to old style they i could well get back into em.
MOP is still one of my most played albums to date
If it's anything like the old stuff then it's a from me. I loved their old songs, Metallica Metallica being my favourite, but I also liked master of puppets; also liked Load which a lot of people didn't like as some of the songs were really quite mellow, but I like that sexy gruff voice actually singing. Haven't really listened much to St Anger tbh. Will have a listen, and definitely have a looksie at the new album if its like their old stuff
master of puppets ftw, the black album ftw, the tracks from that era were great,
if the new stuff sounds like that then i'm onboard, even more so if they play MK national bowl,
where i saw them last, they pwn.
i saw em there last aswell, opened with creeping death and we went fugging mental.
what a day.
I remember when they were about to come onstage, there was some music playing,
like from an epic western movie, and hundreds of ppl came pouring over the hill into the
bowl area, it was biblical to watch, my fave was when it was just going dark, the fog machines started up, and they did 'One' with an extended intro.

roar!
That song is 'The Ecstacy of Gold' from the Movie 'The Good The Bad and The Ugly'. Metallica start all their live performances with it.
No matter what people say about them, they're one of the best live bands around. Seen them twice at Download. Some of the best moments of my life.
I'd heard there was a new album on the horizon, but I haven't heard anything from it tbh. Though, if they're going back to older 'tallica style then I'll probably love it. Also, St Anger is quite probably the worst album they ever made...
I love it. A real head banger. Been rocking out for the last 24 hours. So glad they've returned to a thrashier sound.
There's been loads of controversy over the mixing/remastering though. Most people on the boards agree the album's awesome but the production is pretty poor. A lot of people are saying their getting awful distortion and that the album is far too loud. Loud speakers I can't really notice it but with headphones it is noticeable. However, it would only ruin it for someone wanting to find a problem with it. That and audiophiles.
I've not heard it properly yet, but I've heard most of it in bits and pieces and love what i'm hearing and I will be buying it in the next week or two.
I am still very much into them by the way, they are regulars on my general playlist.

Roll on the tour.
Sounds fine on my Creative 5.1 system, and also sounds fine on the Altec Lansing system stuck on the front of my laptop, so I'm happy.
Especially as the album fucking rocks. If they come anywhere near Sheffield, I know me and about 20 of my mates are so there...

Yeah it's not really a problem, just people being picky I think. I have noticed it a little bit though and with such a high-profile record it's quite shocking it didn't receive the treatment it deserved.
Think my favourite tracks at the moment are 'That was just your life' and 'The Judas Kiss'. The single is actually not one I'd have picked by a mile, though 'The Day That Never Comes' is growing on me.
I think I'd travel some distance to see them again ^.^
All Nightmare Long is deffo one I'll be playing in a DJ set at some point, it's great. Not too keen on Unforgiven III, but it's definitely a cracking album.
Got it now now, it's proper rainin an' windy outside, got in piss wet through,
put the fire and heatin on, an blastin this out on full vol til the other
half gets in and tells me to turn it down lol,
i rly like it after listening to it a few times, not as epic as master of puppets tho,
Id love to go see them but promised to take my 12 year old to her first concert next year and Im not sure this would be appropriate. Love the sound of the new album and huge hints are been dropped lol not that anyone is getting them just yet lol
