Film Diary 2008 May
Friday 2nd May Iron Man Marvel comics super-hero actioner starring Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, who develops a hi-tech suit and uses it in his fight against crime. Made Of Honour Tom is in love with his best friend Claire, but Claire is in love with Colin - and she wants Tom to be her maid of honour at their wedding! Shutter Remake of a chilling Thai horror about a couple who leave the scene of a car accident and are later haunted by images in the photos they develop. Friday 9th May Baby Mama Sigourney Weaver and Greg Kinnear are among the cast in this comedy about a single career woman who hires a working class woman to be a surrogate mother. What Happens In Vegas Rom Com starring Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz play two strangers who get hitched in Vegas after a drunken night on the tiles. Friday 16th May Speed Racer High octane fuelled drama as Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) attempts to win a cross-country rally that took the life of his older brother, while the corporate baddie tries to stand in his way. The Flock Richard Gere and Claire Danes star as mentor and trainee in the Department Of Public Safety, who must track down a missing girl. Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins Comedy about a chat show host who leaves LA to reunite with his family in the deep south. Martin Lawrence and James Earl Jones head up the cast. Thursday 22nd May Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull There's life in the old dog yet as Indiana Jones returns to whip up some action 19 years after finding the Holy Grail. Steven Spielberg directs Harrison Ford, Cate Blanchett, John Hurt and Ray Winstone. Thursday 29th May Sex And The City Carrie Bradshaw and her gal pals are back for another helping of Manhattan-based mini adventures. Will Carrie get finally Big down the aisle? Friday 30th May Prom Night The biggest night in the American teen calendar is marred by a psychopathic killer in this teen slasher. Film Diary 2008 June Friday 6th June Gone Baby Gone Ben Affleck directs his brother Casey in this crime drama about the kidnapping of a little girl, based on a novel by Dennis Lehane. Friday 13th June Priceless A womanising jewel thief tries to reform his ways while on the run from vicious mobsters. The Happening M. Night Shyamalan's latest eerie offering about a family on the run from a disaster that threatens humanity. The Incredible Hulk Edward Norton takes on the role of Dr Bruce Banner, who becomes the mean green Incredible Hulk whenever he gets stressed, poor love. As he battles between to control the monster inside, he's pursued by Tim Roth as The Abomination. Friday 20th June The Boy In Striped Pyjamas David Thewlis and Sheila Hancock star in this family drama about a young boy who moves to the countryside and befriends the only other boy who appears to be around. Thursday 26th June Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy return to Narnia and embark on another adventure with Aslan and return rightful heir, Prince Caspian, to the throne. Friday 27th June Nights In Rodanthe Diane Lane and Richard Gere play two unhappy people whose lives are touched by romance when they meet each other at Rodanthe, a coastal town in North Carolina. Wanted James McAvoy, Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman head up this actioner about a young man who discovers his long lost dad is an assassin. Film Diary 2008 July Wednesday 2nd July Hancock Will Smith plays John Hancock, a disgraced alcoholic superhero. A publicist (Jason Bateman) tries to improve his image, while the superhero embarks on an affair with the publicist's wife (Charlize Theron). Friday 4th July Kung Fu Panda Animated comedy about a lazy panda who's chosen to defend The Valley of Peace and has to be trained to fight. An all-star cast lend their voices, including Jack Black, Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, and Angelina Jolie. Friday 11th July Mamma Mia Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Amanda Seyfried bring Abba songs to the big screen, as a bride-to-be tries to find her real father. Meet Dave Eddie Murphy plays Dave, whose body is in fact a spaceship operated by tiny aliens. While trying to save their planet, Dave throws their mission off-course by falling in love with an earth woman, played by Elizabeth Banks. Friday 18th July The Love Guru Goofy comedy with Mike Myers as an American raised in India by gurus, who returns to the US working as a love expert. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba also star. Wall-E Pixar delivers the cutest robot since Batteries Not Included. After 700 years of doing his job, a robot finally discovers his true destiny. Friday 25th July Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging Comedy based on a hit teen novel about a 14-year old girl's diary revelations about the ups and downs of teenage life. The Dark Knight Batman (Christian Bale) battles The Joker (Heath Ledger) with help from more star names than you can shake a stick at. Film Diary 2008 August Friday 1st August Wild Child Comedy about a rebellious Malibu princess who's shipped off to boarding school in England by her strict father. X-Files Movie: The X Files 2 The eagerly anticipated second celluloid helping of sci-fi conspiracy theory drama. Friday 8th August The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon More desert high-jinks with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in this third Mummy action adventure. Friday 15th August Get Smart Impressive adaptation of the TV spy drama. Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway star as Agents 86 and 99, battling the forces of the KAOS organisation. Friday 22nd August Hellboy 2: The Golden Army Pan's Labyrinth director Guillermo Del Toro is back for a second helping of infernal comic book action. You Don't Mess With The Zohan Judd Apatow and Adam Sandler join forces to bring us this comedy about an Israeli agent who fakes his own death so that he can pursue his dream of being a hairstylist in the big apple. Friday 29th August Babylon A.D. Vin Diesel stars as a vet-turned-mercenary who takes the high-risk job of escorting a woman from Russia to China. Turns out she's host to an organism that a cult wants to harvest to produce a genetically modified Messiah. Crikey. |
