This film is a parody of The 300 in the tradition of Hot Shots, Scary Movie and that sort of thing.
It is probably best if you have seen The 300, but I don't think it is crucial. Some of the jokes are properly funny on their own, like the constant implication that the Spartans are raging homosexuals, and the parodies of CGI in movies etc. Carmen Electra is in it, and she is pushing on these days, I predict it will be the last film in which she is so damn hot. But she is undeniably hot in this. The main guy Leonidas does the weird Scottish voice quite well, and even Azamat Bagatov turns up playing Xerxes. If you don't know who he is, watch Borat when you return to earth. Quite a few of the jokes are obviously aimed at Yanks because I didn't get some, like stuff about Pop Idol and Lindsey Lohan. I guess if you read Heat or the Sun then you are probably low enough IQ to get those bits. It's a stupid and daft film, fairly low budget, but actually quite funny in places. If you ever get offended by crude humour, then probably avoid it. But some of the references are subtle and surprisingly sophisticated. I have no idea who this film is aimed at, there is virtually no narrative and a lot of the jokes will go over the heads of the idiots who understand the pop culture references, but I laughed a few times. And that is rare. And Carmen is hawt, don't believe me? Check out her aerobic striptease exercise video thing that has suddenly resurfaced on torrents due to this Spartans film. |

saw a trailer in the cinema and it looked funny specially the bit with britney. the only thing that put me off was the crack pile that was epic movie and i thought it might be as bad as that but may check it out now, wont be going to the cinema to see it tho.
i think there is still a few films were carmen will still be looking hot so dont worry |

I thought this movie was absolutely terrible and I want to know where I can get that portion of my life back.
In my opinion Hollywood has completely lost the plot when it comes to this type of supposedly funny spoof movie. The days of putting out spoof movies of the class of Blazing Saddles and Airplane have obviously long since gone and movies like this proves to me that most of Hollywood has absolutely no idea at all what it takes to make a funny movie any more. In my opinion it is as bad if not worse than Epic Movie and I can guarantee it's going to pick up several razzies when that time comes back round. Yeah I chuckled mildly at a small amount of isolated scenes, but for almost the entire movie, I considered the humour far too in the face obvious, cliched and standard Hollywood humour. I hate the fact that anything appearing in the movie that requires an IQ of more than 5 is forcefully explained to the viewer to make sure that everyone gets it. For me the only redeeming factor for the movie at all was Carmen Electra, but if I want to spend an hour of my life staring at her, there are plenty of far more fruitful videos of her floating around. Teflon, the implication to Spartans being gay is funny the first time they do it in the movie, but not when every single scene of the movie is a repeat of the same thing over and over. Same with the CGI mick take, it was good the first time, but they had to do the same thing 4 or 5 times more, just in case it was missed by anyone. It's like they had a tiny budget and couldn't afford to use different jokes for different scenes and even if for some weird reason they were deliberately doing that as some kind of parody for some other film, it didn't work. |

yeah i agree thought it was rubbish...i laughted at a few of the jokes and i mean a few....no more than about 4 or 5....which is very bad for a film thats meant to be a comedy, too bad aswell because the lead guy in this is a pretty cool actor....english dude, who has been in offcentre if ya have ever seen it....american tv series from some of the makers of american pie or sumthing.....that had carmen in it too.....and he been in the class aswell thatson E4 now but he speaks american and he aint too funny.
very bad film tbh it was supose to be a comedy but the things they took the piss out of werent exactly great, they took the piss out of pretty much any easy target which isnt hard to do |
