Jumper
Jumper the film was panned by the critics in every paper. Style over substance, flashy CGI, inane plot, that sort of thing.
Well I would say the CGI is indeed flashy, and it is stylish. The plot is fairly basic, but it's the actual concept which saves it. I spent a fair amount of time imagining what I would do if I had that mad skill, and it was fun.
There is a guy who can basically teleport at will. Only on Earth apparently but you don't want to start picking holes in this film or you will never stop. So he teleports around to all the nice places he wanted to visit and has a jolly nice time. The catch is that horrible bad actor Samuel L Jackson wants to kill him because he loves the Lord and thinks teleporting must be somehow bad because he can't do it. Remember what I said about picking holes. So I suspended my disbelief and wondered how this bible bashing 1 dimensional actor can catch our hero Mannequin Skywalker.
Turns out the plot is utter bollocks but the presentation is stylish in a sort of Michael Bay fashion.
I somehow found myself enjoying it. Afterwards I felt cheated but at the time it was fun.
There isn't much to dislike about it, it's not sexist or violent or difficult to follow. It just could have been better thought out. It's still cool and enjoyable until you think about it afterwards.
