I need help with my TV setup and scart connections.
I've got an old TV with only one scart plug connection and until recently that was fine but now I've got a Game Cube and having the swap the cables over is a nightmare.
This is the basic setup I have atm
Aerial goes from wall into freeview box
scartwire one goes from freeview box into TV
scartwire two goes from DVD player to freeview box.
scartwire three is connected to the game cube but I have to swap it with scartwire one in order to view the game cube on TV.
Is there anything I can buy like a T junction or something so that I can connect the first scart wire and the scart wire from the Game Cube into the TV at the same time without having to swap? :O
ohhh excellent ^_^ if I did buy something like that could I connect all three devices straight to that and then that to the TV or would the DVD player still have to go via the freeview box?
Yeah you can connect any thing with a scart cable to it (DVD player, VCR, games console, sky, freeview box etc), then you just select on the adaptor which source you want displayed on the tv and your good to go.
bah that's annoying, was going to put the adaptor behind the TV.
Isn't there a way for when I switch either the DVD player or the game cube on that they automatically come on? At the moment with my current setup when I switch my DVD player on that automatically comes up on the TV
But you would still have to switch off the source of what ever you are using before.
Basically if you have freeview on most of the time, you would have to turn it to stand by in order to use the dvd or GC, if more then one source goes to the TV at one time you would get a mix of the two.
Be VERY wary of cheapy SCART adaptors/splitters. Some won't support RGB signals (rendering your Gamecube cable useless, and probably your DVD cable as well), and as has been said, some can't isolate signals properly so you get a mix of the two onscreen.
If you really want a proper SCART splitter, you need to spend £60 ish on a decent powered switcher. Joytech do a good one that's aimed at the Xbox 360 but will work for everything else.
