(Spoilers – for the two people out there who haven’t watched Terminator 2).
I’ve just watched T2 again and, although I loved it (definitely a top five all time film for me), you have to admit that it was a stoke of luck that they happened to drive into a plant full of boiling hot melting steel.
Anyway, luckily for humanity Arnie blasts the T-1000 off the gantry and he melts in the molten steel, thus preventing judgement day.
I was just wondering what other ways/places etc there were of doing away with a liquid metal nasty?
Also, it seems that Arnie’s T-800 was under orders to ‘self terminate’ once his mission was over. Again, lucky the boiling pit was there to aid this. What would he have done if it wasn’t? Maybe he could have blown himself up with one of those power cell things (see T3), but that would leave bits of him scattered about everywhere, meaning any old unscrupulous computer firm could find his chip and start a nuclear holocaust.
I suppose it would have still been destroyed my a massive explosion, like a 2000LB bomb or something, this would have scattered it's molecules over a large radius, whilst annihilating the molecular level
circuitry + and polymer alloy's integrity, a scenario which should be pretty much unrecoverable,
I gotta say that the director's cut of that film makes much more sense, and the extra scenes
were good to watch.
The T-1000 was pretty much unstoppable, i think the steelworks or freezing or a giant magnet were the only ways of stopping them or as mars says a huge intense explosive blast.
I just googled terminators to find out which models some of the other ones were, including SCC episodes and i found "Terminator sex positions", i wont link it but google it if u want
I think they call it a 'Mimetic poly alloy' ...the finished product is considered indestructible, but only against impact damage, small weapons, etc etc, whilst it's lack of limitations are considerable, it is still has certain vulnerabilities.

To be fair, I think a liquid metal Terminator would be the best at 'sex positions'.
