First of all, many thanks to Tom the siteowner for allowing me to post this.
I work in marketing but I'm not here to post constant spam messages. I want to talk to you about stuff that I think you might enjoy, and I'm genuinely interested in hearing what you think.
I'm currently working with History to get the word out about some of their biggest shows this autumn.
The first programme (which starts tonight) is Ice Road Truckers!
Is anyone a fan?
We've got some big changes in Series 3, with the first featured female trucker and the return of Hugh and Alex! Hugh and Alex are join other truckers at the Fairbanks office in Alaska as new employees.
There's a great clip on our Facebook page of one of the technicians with an explosive method of clearing avalanche snow. Just don't stand behind him...
I'm a big fan of Ice Road Truckers, it's a very interesting show, with some even more interesting characters. I certainly wouldn't want to do their job though, every time they take to the road they have their lives in their hands.
I've set series record on my virgin+ box for the show.
The video in the link doesn't work though, it says it has been removed.
Its the kinda thing i always think would make a better documentary than a series. Its cool seeing what the guys do, but once youve seen 1 or 2 episodes, the whole cold, ice holdups, not making time etc isnt so enlightening anymore.
Also, carrying on the rough and tough theme, we have a new series starting on History called America's Toughest Jobs, with contestants from all over the U.S taking on the most dangerous and exciting jobs around the world. Check out the competitors on the History Facebook here
Now, I obviously have a desk job, but has anyone here worked in a job as dangerous as the Ice Road Truckers?
We've got a clip of one of the new workers, Brad starting his first day as a logger here. He previously lived in California, so as you can imagine, it's a bit of a culture clash!
And if you fancy a change, catch America's Toughest Jobs straight after, where a wide selection of contestants take on the most dangerous jobs in America.
This week, the contestents go a little bit Ice Road by taking on trucking.
Check out a profile of one of the contestants here
I like watching ice road truckers on channel 4 on saturday mornings. Another good series is the lumberjacks. funny to see a sherman tank used as a rig for collecting felled trees.

Hello Tagred, is the lumberjacks programm you're talking about Ax Men, or something different?
IRT Episode 3 is on tonight! Hugh and Alex are on the road with Carlile safety instructors. Does Hugh behave and do what he's told? Uhmmm...no.
Loving the new series of ice road truckers so far and stroke of genius getting lisa on the show, beauty and personality . Certainly wouldnt want to drive it myself but would be kinda cool to tag along as a passenger, perhaps it could be a future competition for you guys.
As you may or may not know, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the British Army’s arrival in Northern Ireland. In remembrance of this History is broadcasting a special documentary: Soldiers' Stories.
This documentary allows British soldiers to make their voices heard, recounting tales from their time in Northern Ireland. It's very compelling.
Tonights episode shows some difficult times for the ax men. Rygaard's Greenhorn fights to keep his job and one of R&R's pilots gets trapped in in zero visibility when a sudden fog rolls in.
We've got a great clip on the Ax Men Facebook Page where the carriage of the Rygaard crew grinds to a halt. The owner Craig makes the rest of the crew nervous when he delves in to the electronics of the 1 and a half ton carriage.
Certainly beats messing around under the hood of a car!
I've got to admit, due to time constraints at the moment, i've actually got Ice Road Truckers set on series record with my Virgin+ box and have only had time to actually watch the first episode so far and it's pretty much the same with Ax Men too, well actually it's the same for all the TV shows I watch at the moment.
I am looking forward to getting a little time to sit down and watch them properly though, which I'm hoping to do over the next couple of weekends, providing I've managed to get my work computer fixed and working properly in that time.
There's an excellent documentary on History's sister channel Ci at 9pm tonight.
It's called The Murder of Lord Shaftesbury and it recounts the case of the 2004 death of the Lord in France, which involves both his wife and her brother.
Ax Men is on tonight! We see a focus on R&R, the heli-loggers company.
Also, we have a great clip from Ice Road Truckers which is on tomorrow at 9pm.
It shows the rivalry between Alex and Hugh, and the further rivalry between their driving assistants, Drew and Phil. Each of them are convinced that they've driven faster than the other.
I seen earlier seasons of both of these series a bit.
They both make me wonder why these two trades are extremely dangerous only in the US. That means the dramatization makes me have a good laugh most of the time. Also some personalities in the series couldn't run their businesses here in Finland because they wouldn't have anyone to work for them. That is some of them entrepreneurs seem to have semi-severe personality disorder (Hugh having the worst).
Today is the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
To commemorate this, History are broadcasting a 2 part documentay: The Rise And Fall Of The Berlin Wall. Tonight, we learn about the circumstances that led up to the creation of the Wall.
See a clip from the History Facebook Page that shows the manipulations of the communist leader of East Germany that led to the construction of the wall.
Has anyone visited the Wall? I was there in February.
