Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller will be among the stars attending the opening night of the Edinburgh International Film Festival. It is the first time in its 61-year history the event has been held outside the main festival month of August.
The opening night gala will feature the World premiere of the Dylan Thomas biopic - The Edge of Love.
The film is written by Glasgow-born Sharman MacDonald, mother of the film's star Keira Knightley.
It tells the story of two feisty, free-spirited women connected by poet Dylan Thomas, who loves them both.
The 62nd Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) will show 142 features from 29 countries during its 12 day run.
There will be 15 World premieres and 72 UK premieres.
Organisers of the Edinburgh International Film Festival said it promised the best the film world could offer.
Artistic director, Hannah McGill, called the festival's shift from August to June "seismic".
She admitted there was a risk in removing the film festival from the "vast cultural offering of Edinburgh in August".
Ms McGill claimed that the city was "overburdened" during the main festival and that August was a "sleepy time" for the international film industry.
She said the move would allow the film festival to "assert itself and obtain the best attendance and the best films it could".
The guest list for the red carpet opening gala also includes actress Joely Richardson, Sean Connery and Jaime Winstone.
Singer-songwriter Beth Rowley will perform at the festival ahead of the red-carpet premiere.
The rising star said: "I'm really excited to be at the opening of the festival. It's a real honour and Scottish crowds are always awesome."
