Davina McCall will return to present the ninth series of Big Brother, Channel 4 has confirmed. The show will return to TV screens in June, despite reports that Channel 4 bosses were considering resting the reality series for a year.

Brian Belo was last year's winner, but the 2007 series - the eighth - was panned by critics and viewing figures were down compared with previous years.

Meanwhile, the new Big Brother logo - a shattered eye - has been unveiled.

Channel 4 bosses cancelled spin-off show Celebrity Big Brother in January, following rows over alleged racism and bullying last year.

This year, it screened Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack, in its place, but the new format was only screened on digital channel E4, where it attracted an average of 600,000 viewers.

I watch the entry night, normally the Friday eviction nights if I remember and the final winners episode as I find them quite interesting, I don't watch the general daily boredom stuff though, unless there is some really sexy looking female who walks around virtually nekkid all the time.

It's good from a scientific point of view watching how the people evolve and how previous series effect how the current crop act and the likes. From an entertainment point of view though it is terrible.

I can't believe they've actually decided to do a series this year though, it should have been given a break for a year or two or finished completely. It's gotten very stale as a product now because all the contestents know pretty much exactly what to expect and so do audiences.

i'll always tune in for the opening night as it's usually one of the best freak shows on tv the other half watches too, then feigns disinterest for a few weeks & plagues me with questions on who's who , but they ARE to media savvy now & most of the contestants "end games" are fairly transparent . But , just like Apprentice this year , i doubt very much there will be any genuinely likeable characters anymore .
