SO ANNOYED!
Bf tapped the console while it was stood up, didnt knock it down or nothing, he just made it shake a little! and it chewed up the disc! had to rip it out of the drive, now the disc is wrecked and cant play it! Anyone had this happen to them? Also how do i get my own pic on my gamertag? ![]() |

Its a design flaw i'm afraid, sometimes even with just a game on normally you can hear the disk stop or start having spaz attacks but sometimes you just get unlucky and it chews it up and Microsoft won't cover it in the warranty.
I think it happened to my Oblivion because I have a permanant error on one of the quests now which means I cannot get all the achievement points. But yeah only thing you can do really is buy another Gears and maybe put ya console down flat on a very stable surface which is how I have mine. Sorry to hear for the loss though as its never pleasant to lose something that costs that much. |

Whats funny about this ( not funny that it happened mind you ) is that if a PS3 had done this there would be mass hysteria and it would be publicised as the end of Sony's world "again"
![]() Personally I think Microsoft should be sued by all gamers that have had this problem occur as stating in the manual "don't move the console while in use" or whatever the wording actually is is bull**** when you don't actually have to move it for the damage to occur. Its blatantly a design flaw as I know for a fact that having CD drives hanging by there ide cable while building an image onto a PC ( while not advisable ) doesn't destroy the disc forevermore. Maybe Microsoft should have bought out someone like creative or at least there ideas. Sony have had the technology to ensure CD drives play Cd's even in the most violently moving conditions ( anti-roll in Walkmans ) for years and I'm sure a bit of this technology could have saved a lot of £50's since there release. (God help Microsoft if they attempt to port the xbox360 into an in-car entertainment box ) I suggest you ring Microsoft tech support and state that your Game was chewed up without you shaking the console or turning it but just from catching there technology by accident and that if they won't replace the game ask for your money back from Microsoft as the console is not fit for purpose as it destroys games not plays them ![]() |

I think MS have their ass covered on this one, as i havent heared of anyone getting a new game out of them or even taking any legal action.
Unless you could actually prove your machine did it just from a little shake i dont see what you can do. MS should have waited and put a swish slot loading drive in, or better still packed it with a stand. |
