Final Fantasy XIII coming to Xbox 360 - Joystiq

Seems even square are jumping the sinking ship that is the ps3!
First Devil may cry, then GTA4 and now FFXIII.
Mircosoft really seem to be going all out to kill the PS3........

wow this is indeed good news, the new FF game and MGS were the 2 games that would make me buy a ps3.

i can live without the MGS (well untill the ps3 comes down in price a hell of a lot) i have heard its boring anyway =/

really dont see how you can say PS3 is a sinking ship when sales figures are outperforming X-box at every turn

Seems to me that Microsoft are desperatly throwing money at a flawed console to attract game developers because they can't compete with the PS3 otherwise but then that me with my 1080p console with blu-ray player built in and wireless connectivity built in with sixaxis rumble controller and no red ring of death.

I just finished MGS4 today and it was anything but boring, I loved the story and the music.

I'm still going to get FF13 for the ps3 anyway, so it does not really matter to me that it went to the 360.

I wouldnt call it "outperforming" its hardly by a huge margin. Lets not forgot the huge sales the xbox has had and a huge % of people now have it.

I have both and the PS3 shadows in comparision tbh, the online service is just in the stone ages compared to the xbox so is the software.
Hardware wise i think the console is more future proof and its the only reason im keeping it is for the blu ray and for FFXIII but ill get that on the xbox cause the online service is just so much better.

To me the PS3 is still very last gen, i mean i have both the ps3 and xbox on the same network, yet it takes me 5 times as long to download a demo on the ps3 and then i have to wait bloody ages to INSTALL it, yes thats right INSTALL it, the ps3 is trying too much to be a PC and its forgetting that it originally set out to do and thats be a fast, quick and easy to use gaming machine.

And having been a huge fan of the psx and ps2 i STILL cant believe sony havnt changed that joypad, it just isnt ergonomically at all compared to the xbox's. And the six axis thing is nothing more than a cheap gimmick, it brings real fun to the games, even those where its just used like that duck game, its just a desperate attempt by sony to compete with the wii.

I much prefer the 360 to the PS3. I'd only ever buy a PS3 if I wanted a blu-ray player, as it's undoubtably one of the best on the market. But since we can watch movies on the TV via the PC HDMI there's no need.
360 has a better online interface, better controllers, a better selection of games (imo) - I used to be a fan of playstation but since the 360 I've changed my mind.

people need to realise the ps3 isnt the ps2, it doesn't have stupidly ridiculous market share like the ps2 had, so there is no reason to make exclusive games for it if your third party. i predict MGS4 to be the last non first party high profile exclusive the ps3 will have, this is simply because it isnt dominating in market share and sony unlike microsoft dont want to dish out cash for exclusives.

Sony have stated that all its cash is going into development of its first party games now instead of buying 3rd party exclusives.

This will give them a stronger position in the future and as it stands now they already have more exclusive games coming out then the 360. Strangely enough this fact was proved at the Nintendo press conference.

It will be their downfall, the reason why the PS2 dominated last gen was the fact it had all these exclusive franchises that everyone wanted to play. If those same mases of people can play their favorite franchise on a more popular, cheaper console they are going to go for the 360.

Anyway FFXIII should be interesting and hopefully will have an online mode too!

It was because they dominated last gen that they are in trouble now.

They didnt buy exclusives last gen because with 100 million units they didnt have to. Developers would always sell plenty on just the PS2 so it wasn't worth the cost of porting to another console to sell a few extra.

This made Sony too complacent and they didn't bother to create many of their own first party IPs they just made money instead.

Now their biggest established brand are going multi-platform and they have to create loads of brand new unestablished first party games to make up for the loss.
