Reckon we will ever see Alan Wake?

That's how long ago I ordered Alan Wake.
Alan Wake is a psychological horror from Remedy, the makers of Max Payne and Max Payne 2.
This is the current estimated date for Alan Wake from Gameplay.co.uk.

Released: 31 October 2008

I'm also worried that they are still showing a temporary box art for the game.

Microsoft still claim that Alan Wake is in production, but things are very, very quiet on the development front.

So do you think Alan Wake will ever see the light of day?

Who knows but pigs may still fly.

I am guessing it was a bit over ambitious to start with or massive problem arose and it could not make its original release schedules.

They will have been given extra time and cash to finish it and told to shut up about it till it is nearer time for launch.

If they continue to need extra time they will probably get it as the game is so well known now and its visuals have people wanting it. However if the £££ goes up to much MS will either dump it of release unfinished.

If Duke Nukem as taught us anything it is that we can be waiting for a game to be finished "Forever"

It looks like it has a great storyline to it. Probably not my sort of game, but it does look good. I hope it does get to have it's day, and that you eventually get your order!

When you pre-order them do you pay for them? If you do, then I would ask for my money back.

I like the look of that, kinda max pain meets silent hill, and enjoyed the max pain games, so probs my sort of thing. Its so annoying when they do this. I bet your patience is waring thin.

I have been looking forward to Alan Wake since when it was first pimped and looked all futuristic and stuff. It will be released eventually, they have spent a lot on it and cannot afford to can it.
Spore and Gran Turismo PSP have been delayed just as long and are guaranteed to come out at some point, although it's looking like it will be sooner for them than Alan Wake.

Obviously Wake has been pumped up to HD recently, so a lot of reprogramming etc. I bet when it does come out it will be rushed to comply with the new criteria, but the storyline which was what attracted all the discerning gamers in the first place will remain.

I'm optimistic, perhaps it will have those blurry flicker lines you get in the Bioshock cut-scenes and other shitty rushed-out HD games, but maybe it can be like Crysis graphics, given the development time, and if it is not until October they have the chance to pare the engine down even further.

I'm still hoping for a Stephen King style HD Silent Hill.
