aye MSE.com is one of my regular forum/sites and theres some top info on there, and like you say it does take some time to load sometimes as theres often several thousand peeps on at any one time
Well I wrote a letter this afternoon to the tax people asking for them to check if we had recieved the tax allowance for children 2002/2003 as this is when we got married. (Will have to do a separate one for when I was working and with numb nuts). Some people have got £1700 for just getting them to check if they have got the right tax code. Will take a few weeks, but any money is better in your pocket than the tax mans.
Thanks to MSE, Robyn actually contacted the tax people a while ago about her situation with this, together with trying to reclaim cost for work uniforms and the likes. She actually got a bit back off them and now gets a tax relief for her work uniforms too.
I don't visit that site very often myself as it really drags it's heels loading and it drives me mad, but Robyn swears by it and is on there for hours at a time, so I just get info for stuff from there from her normally.
Brilliant web site that i do frequent....but if your not going to read all the posts.... basically if you think your entitled then YOU write to Inland Revenue.....the no win no fee thing is not needed at all.
i know theres prolly one on MSE but you gotta rake through about a billion pages to find em lol.
Just write a brief letter including you and your partners National Insurance Numbers & date of birth of your youngest child. Say something along the lines of "I have been reviewing my tax affairs, please could you confirm whether or not I received the Childrens Tax Credit in either mine or my partners tax code in the 2002/2003 tax year - If not please could you send me form 11CTC in order to make a claim.
That's what I wrote, and sent it to the tax office on harvs wage slip ( the number is on it you have to look up the office here )
That was the year I was paying THEM back for a mistake THEY made, but when I apealed they said it was my fault for not noticing it in the first place! Maybe I should try it anyway
