There you go girls, it's finally official - British men do make some the best husbands in the whole wide world. On the other hand, are we soft devils and should learn from our foreign cousins when it comes to housework and childcare ? Now promise girls, no more moaning about us Personally, I've always enjoyed household / child chores but then as Mary Poppins would say; "I'm practically perfect"
Your missing one small thing with this topic... Factual information... If you actually look at the list on the page you linked, Norway and Sweden both come above GB.
I think it has bugger all to do with mens high standards of cleaning and home keeping, i'd say it is simply down to low standards set by females in this country. This is one of the scruffiest, sub standard, litter strewn, filthy countries in Europe, if not the world. Hell, i've seen slums in Turkey that look clean compared to parts of this country.
I'd love to actually know what cross section of public were used in their study though and "experts" in what exact field were used...
Can't believe tax payers money is used for this type of crap.
I'm curious Bilko, but roughly where are you living? I suspect from previous information, that you live in a relatively comfortable existance, in a fairly nice house, in a fairly nice part of which ever town you live. I suspect that you don't often venture into the parts of town which if you were to look through windows, you'd more often than not see people living like the Royles from the show The Royle Family, or like Onlow and family from Keeping Up Appearences, or maybe even Wayne and Waynetta Slob... All of which paint a much more realistic picture of general life than this survey seems to be fabricating.

I missed out the first two on the list because their suicide rates in that part of the world tend to be quite high on the international scale. Confused men not sure of their role perhaps ?
Never pays to make assumptions on lifestyles and background, your description fits mine perfectly until recent years. However, quite comfortable now in retirement on the South Coast between Bognor Regis and Shoreham.

Sorry, but suicide has got absolutely nothing at all to do with the actual data presented in the initial post and is irrelevent, your reasoning and matching up of the two is purely guess work and not even accurate. Especially when you actually look at the figures on that second site you've linked and see that there is actually a whole host of countries with higher rates and just as many with lower rates (if you look at the actual complete list) of suicide than this country and of Norway and Sweden, which essentially and factually nullifies the point your attempting to make.
I never assume, I almost exclusively calculate. I am not right in my calculations 100% of the time or with 100% of my equations, but I have a much higher than average success rate.
Truth be known about suicide rates, is that it would clearly show a far greater swing towards countries with long hours of darkness and higher rates of unemployement, than whether women stay at home or go out and work, even if there is any connection at all to women out working meaning less jobs for men or not, which I have absolutely no idea about and don't care to begin a study of such a thing, it would have no baring at all on the original point of the original post.
The family unit, women's place within it, womens overall place in the world is changing and there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it, the ball is rolling at it's own speed and no amount of debate, forwards or backwards thinking, government policy or anything else is going to change the speed or direction of things, because it is simply taking it's natural course and unless the world steps back into a time, where men revert to going out in packs and hunting food for survival and women stay in the cave raising the many offspring adding to the brood, cooking and scratching their arses, well......
