Health, Lifestyle, Hobbies and SportThis section has been added to give you scope to discuss different aspects of living, relationships, health, writing, photography, cars or classic bikes, cooking and recipes, or anything like that, in a mature manner.
What is your passion, hobby, activity that gives you a sense of achievement or something you love doing. Why do you like it, and what do you think it does for you, and would you recommend it to anyone else?
At the moment my passion is learning to drive. I love the freedom it gives and the ability to eventually take me anywhere I want to go and I really would recommend people learning to drive even though I haven't passed yet!. I enjoy watching motor racing with the hubby, but I really only like the fast cars and the sound of their engines, motorbikes just don't have the oomph on the track that road bikes have, | like em loud!
Rather than a passion, my current "thing", is re-educating, with the aim of getting myself a high paying job at the end of it. Therefore my aim in life is money and trying to get my hands on some, the motivator being stuck in a two room box and gradually being driven completely insane by it. Therefore I spose the actual passion is property and getting moved to alternate property. The latest buzz was doing an initial assessment for a maths and english course and being told I was already of a high enough standard to pass the exams, without any training at all, which isn't bad for someone that hasn't bothered to study anything like that since I was 13. I'm hoping I can actually skip the courses and jump straight to the exam sitting part, then I can move on to the next higher level part of my training plan. And people wonder why I get annoyed when I see them pissing their futures up a wall.... My childhood was spent in childrens homes and being passed around a variety of "uncles and aunts" and being bounced around schools all over the place, I had a full time job at 14, my chances were a tad limited as a kid. People for the most part don't haver a clue how damn lucky they are that they are given so damn much on a plate. I am simply very thankful right now that there are a few organisations out there that do actually realise that there are people like me, who want to get on in life, but who have been hit by the bad fortune stick alng the way... So yeah, my buzz, learning and watching the interest on my tiny ISA very slowly grow (gonna take 9 years to get a house deposit at this rate (would take 3 if I also added the money that pays for TFs costs to the ISA like)).
I would say TF is my main passion, but it feels more like a massive ball and chain round the ankle at the moment, especially financially, financially it is hurting with the credit crunch and peoples general lack of joining in with anything on the site, meaning income generated has dropped massively of late. It takes up far more time just doing crappy admin end stuff and keeping things secure and working, which means there's never any time left to actually do the fun stuff on it any more.
Outside of that, at the moment I don't have the time, money or energy to do much else.
I love my dogs, wildlife, spotting birds and the likes on dog walks, but living where I do, it's a bit like playing russian roulette everytime you go for a walk, with there being such a high ratio of scum living in the area and thats in daylight, at night it's like playing using a fully loaded gun. Not good for health or sanity. Does enjoying growing house plants even count as a hobby?
Soccer takes up a large part of my time, and I enjoy it. I coach teens, I referee, and I watch a lot of EPL and Team USA.
Sailing is my outdoor relaxation, and I play music with friends and family. I also read a lot of books, mostly scifi and mystery, with the ocassional erotica tossed in.
I like to combine these things, such as go to a soccer game, followed by a music jam, or read a book on a sailboat.
Sash - you should read "The Betsy". It's all about cars and girls and vroom-vroom!
Det - you should take a couple of days off from TF, and re-evaluate the entire situation.

I have done, that's partly what the re-educating myself bit is about. I need to do something that will seriously allow me to boost my income (more than any chef job would do, as chef jobs pay crap in this country), so that the financial pressure of TF is removed, so that in my mind, I can actually take it back to something fun, without the pressures that i've constantly piled on myself with it.
I do like football I have to say. Although the costs involved in getting to matches is a serious limitation on how many matches I ever get to see. But I have a very well worn armchair from which I support vigorously. I like, music, movies and gaming too, but they take up so much time that they are generally on the backburner for now.
