I'd hate to be the one to tell that little girls parents that swine flu is nothing major, just being blown out of all proportions and that nobody should worry about swine flu, or the many other people who have already died from it to date's families... It hasn't even mutated as they are fully expecting it to at some point, yet.... And this is just a couple of months down the line and they've already said it is going to effect most towns, cities and countries across the planet.
More people have died of sock related injuries this year.
Approximately 40 million people worldwide are currently living with the death sentence that is AIDS, yet during the 30 years since AIDS was first recognised as a disease, it has only killed around 2.5 million of those that have become infected by it... Of course, there are still plenty of people out there re-using dirty needles to inject drugs and others having regular unprotected sex with multiple partners... Of those 2.5 million deaths, only around 5 thousand of those deaths happened in the UK...
As you can see, there are plenty of other higher killers, be it something stupid like socks, or something classified as evil like AIDS... Does this somehow make death and illness less relevent or important, just because it is flu?
I know there are plenty enough people taking notice of it and taking it seriously where I live.. Including me, when the latest two people to die from it lived about 1 mile away from me.
Naa, you know my post was light hearted too, perhaps a little inappropriate though
Its about perspective though, i dont read certain newspapers or certain articles about doom and gloom because it really does rub off on you. After checking bbc news frontpage i go straight to Metro.co.uk Weird News - Funny and bizarre stories in the news | Metro.co.uk for a more lighthearted view of the world.
The deaths are serious of course and its a real issue, but unfortunately were surrounded by death and i choose not to look at it like that. With swine flu, car accidents, aids, stabbings/violent crime, on top of unpredictable body problems such as cancer etc and lets not forget all the diseases and war in less privilidged countries too. Its enough to make you want to give up now
I thought that the majority if not all of the deaths were of people who had serious underlying health problems. Obviously it pays to be vigilant but I wouldn't say it's anything to batten down the hatches for at the moment.
It seems that either a pupil or a teacher at a school in Pontefract has it (that's about 6 miles away from me) still cant see the point in panicking. They telling people to make sure they sneeze into a tissue and then bin it. Iv been teaching my kids that since they could first hold a tissue. It seems to be getting closer, and now the school Luke goes to has sent home letters about reporting flu like symptoms, and that the school may be closed in September due to it, it does make you sit up and take note.
I still think that all these new strength stuff is coming out because people are getting too clean, our bodies need germs so we can build up an immunity against them!
That's just plain creepy, what were they thinking when the various governments were putting together these public information videos.
I don't know if i'm a little worried about this latest pandemic or not, it's spread so damn quick, although they are reckoning the worst is to come, as it is showing signs of mutation and they don't know yet whether it will turn into a super pimped up mutant, or whether the mutation will weaken it. There's not a lot most of us can do about it anyway though, if we are gonna get it we will, can't stay behind locked doors forever.
I work in the frontline of it, and have a few people on my sites with it, yet you can count the number of people who have really died from it with one hand. It hasnt mutated yet, and may do so arounf september /october time. Almost all cases have have had underliyng reason for deaths.
There is no reason to panic yet. its apandemic, but thats because theres too much panic over it. You should still be more concerned over avian flue or sars as that has killed more people than swine flu has, and thay dont seem to have exploded much.
I really think there wont be that much of an increase if swine flue realted deaths until the end of the year, and even then i think it would be statiscally insignificant compared to normal flu.
Watch out for media to blow it out of all proportion
Susan here i a fan of this video man this will really help all watching this video to save themselfs from swine flue, but i am not sure how did this creep up right away in middle on no where, i am a swine flue patient i wish i has read this post to save myself earlier.
