Shocking formation Mclaren set up i couldn't understand why he did it.. From my point of view it was a defensive formation which imo was not necessary. A simple 4-4-2 would have been good enough. Possibly good enough for us to win it with someone feeding off of crouch from the start.
I also can't understand why he put in Carson in instead of James. Carson is a very good keeper yes but with very little experience. James has experience and is on form in the premiership. I seriously hope Carson doesn't get the blameput on him as some of his saves kept England within the game.
It won't seem right there being an international tournament without England being in it.. Doesn't seem right lol. Suppose it will grow on me.
To be fair, this match wasnt that bad. It was amazing entertainment, a great comeback, but not quite enough, so was damn tense to watch. The real reason were out is because of the shocking results earlier, we shouldnt forget how bad some of those games were.
McLaren is clearly an idiot. Hes forever playing england in defensive formations and having us play to a single striker with very little chance of scoring. A pretty boring stalemate formation imo, should push a little harder on attack and take a chance with defense. The defenders he chose to play tonight seemed to be pretty crappy, except sol ofc. Surely he must have seen that our entire defensive line and goalkeeper were not upto the demands. Im sure that goalie guy is actually fairly good, but god knows why you would play him under the pressure of such an important match, James was the obvious and safe bet, and that alone may have tipped the balance.
The other thing, is why are we always chasing? We seem to play boring non aggressive football, until weve virtually lost hope, then suddenly start playing well. Second half and with Beckham on, there were good build ups, lots of crosses and potential goals. Then as soon as we drew level, instead of pushing on, we seemed to take a little rest.... why? Why do we always sit at 0-0 in a game, and not start playing well until were down by a goal.
Hehehe and there rests my case against Mclaren when he was first shown as england manager, i always said he was the wrong man for the job. So where are all the people who said there should be an english person managing the england team now?
Lets see, mclarens record is abyssmal as england manager, cos he is clearly not a great manager, and got his reuptation from the coat tails of ferguson
