What sort of exercise should I be doing to firm the tops of my legs, my hips and my bum and I guess my tummy too? I walk quite a lot but that doesn't seem to be having the effect I hoped it would. Any advice? I can't go to the gym because I'm far too shy, but would like an idea of what equipment would be helpful too please.
Thanks ![]() |

I'd say cycling is the best way, although you should do long times once you get on that bike. I mean like 2 hour 'ish' 3-4 times a week. Once you get more fit you can start doing biking for mileage like 100 miles per week as a goal, or even more if you feel like it. By the way getting rid of them love handles isn't gonna happen in a matter of weeks, more like months.
And don't be fooled with your weight at the start, if you arent in generally good health you'll build up muscle mass at the start and you'll actually gain weight simply because muscle weights much more than fat and that fat isn't burned away at the start fast enough that you'd lose weight. |

I cycled around scotland for 3 weeks, i got very fit indeed, however with the full cooked breakfasts at the bed and breakfast places we stayed at, and wed get hungry by lunchtime and find a good pub to have lunch in, then wed be hungry by the evening and find a place to have a realy good meal, we put on some weight lol.
However I had to buy new suits becuase my calf muscles had grown so much i couldnt get my legs into my trousers lol ! |

![]() I'm still walking lots and we've been swimming too, but I think I have a decent figure for my age so I'm not too worried. Nookie is a fun way to try and burn calories shame I've no energy after walking to school 4 times a day.I need to stop eating crisps... |

I love cycling unfortunately Im not allowed to do it unless its in a gym!! (if I fall off and all that crap!! ) Why are you too shy to go to the gym? If I can go you can!! Its a shame we dont live nearer each other we could have gone together.
Im pretty lucky though as our doctors has its own gym thats £1 a session. You have to be referred to it in the first place but its pretty good. Theres loads of advice on healthy eating too. Swimming is great, but its finding the time and the baby sitters. And with sash's long hair and the winter on its way it has lots of down sides to it! |

If you want to lose weight, either eat less, exercise more, or both. Losing weight off certain areas without a calorie deficit = liposuction. |

Now the kids are at school/nursery I'm gonna try walking really quickly to get my heart pumping a lot more which hopefully will help with my hips and my bum. Just hope I don't pass out with my blood pressure being so low lol. |
