Has to be PS3 just for sheer functionality of use followed by Wii because of its party factor.
The PS3 has completed my in home entertainment centre. It works great with media centre out of the box, I can edit and use, view, organise, all my media, free online multiplayer games, 1080p graphics, bluetooth wireless controllers with superb battery life, sleek ( looks very nice on the side dont have to hide it away ). Blu-ray player DVD plyer with auto upscale its just everything I need for enjoying Full HD viewing.
Only downside was them removing functionality with the 40Gb version - I'm so glad i got the 60gb version.
The drive is such that even that can be easily changed too.
The Wii needs some serious firmware upgrades now and some proper channels adding to it too. I like the Wii but stuff like the browser and the controller not being bluetooth ( needing the detector bar lets it down a little.
Ill give the poor little xbox360 a vote as thats the one we have, and upto now its the best one we have had BUT we have had a friend over this week and he brought his wii, he didnt bring many games but Id say thats been on the most over the weekend.... guess whats on the top of the kids christmas list for this year?
It has to be the Wii for me, not that i've managed to get hold of one for myself yet, but having played with one, things like the Wii board and the controller and Nintendo's ideal that the Wii is intended as a "for the whole family" entertainment system are the big difference for me cause it adds the fun back into gaming, which gaming seems to have largely neglected recently and it encourages family interaction and social activity, which thanks to things like mobile phones, PCs and such devices, is fast becoming a thing of the past.
If I could have two votes then I would say Wii & 360. As I consider them both two separate consoles for different moods. Wii, for me, is when I just want to play around and party with the ability to keep active. 360 is when I want to be serious with my gaming experience.
I always pick consoles for the games it has and since I enjoy more games with the 360 then that is why I don't pick PS3. =)
I went with the wii, simply because at least when we're playing that we are up and active not just zoned out in front of a tv.
I hate the kids playing computer games and only allow it at weekend and seeing them run around on the wii when it is pouring down outside instead of acting like zombies watching cartoons or playing the ps2 in much better imho.
I am going to vote the Sony PS3, as it is a pleasure to use, and I am working and learning with the PS3 all the time, and the real advantage for me is the FREE online gaming, however I also own the Elite system xbox 360, and also the Prmium 360 as well.
I still also have the crystal xbox version 1.6, and I love all my consoles
I think the Wii deserves a vote as it's made console gaming so accessible now and has generated sales that make the other 2 look silly.
Anyone who picks up a controller and Wii Sports is guaranteed to have fun (and sore arms next day) and it's affordable which is a great plus. On the down side it doesn't offer much for the so called hard-core gamer and the graphics could definitely do with a boost. My friends who have bought one haven’t really looked twice at it once the novelty wore off.
The PS3 is a great all round machine. It's got a brilliant DVD upscaler, blu-ray, takes any headset via Bluetooth, has a good selection of games and free online - although with fewer bells and whistles than anyone who's got an Xbox would like - it does what it says on the tin and gets you playing online for free.
The controller's not changed much in 10 years and is in need of a major redesign, hence the plethora of third party designs / trigger extensions, etc. on the market. But that's picking hairs. It has the option of a Freeview receiver box (Play TV) which turns the console in to a PVR which whilst a good idea has had a luke-warm reception due to not being HD compatible. It doesn’t have the extensive games library of the 360 nor the range of AAA games. The ‘experts’ say multiplat games are frequently sub par to the 360 but when I’ve looked they don;t look that different.
Compared like for like with the PS3, the 360 is severely let down by not having Blu-ray or at least a DVD upscaler but as a games console it’s ahead on several levels in my book.
It has the best games library both in quality and quantity, a controller that sits naturally in my hands, and a full featured online service - albeit at a premium (Live Gold = £25/year or £2/month). It’s a lot cheaper to buy if you don’t want all the extras that come with the PS3.
For me, I would say the 360 is my No.1. Playing online is my main thing and PSN just doesn’t cut it by comparison. I don’t want to get in to a long winded comparison of the two here but it just doesn’t match up to what I’m used to on live. It also has the best exclusives for me which is a massive bonus.
