I got a digital camcorder for my christmas, and I can use it fine.
The problem is that it won't connect to my PC.
When I connect it (usb connection) it installs all the drivers and software via the CD, exactly like it is supposed to. But then when I go to My Computer, to try and access the data, the video camera doesn't show up as a removable device.
Device manager says everything is working properly, and when I unplug or plug in the camera windowsXP makes its USB noise to say that a connection has been made.
How can I access the camera through my PC?
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, the memory card is in the camera. I don't know what to do.
You need the right software to view the camcorder stuff.
Microsoft's Movie maker is not bad for that sort of thing, you can do some editing etc on including adding titles and custom fades/wipes. Movie makeris free, so just get it from the M$ update site
Sold a few of them before christmas, one of my favourites!
Instead of going through my computer cant you do it directly through the software? or isnt the computing picking up the camcorder at all through the usb? Does it recognise there is a connection, or is it just the camera not coming up?

Yeah I really like it
It's super cool apart from that one thing >.<
You can't do it directly through the software because within the software you have to navigate to the removable drive (camcorder) in order to open the files. And it doesn't show up so you can't navigate to it >.<
On device manager when it's not plugged in it tells you the device is currently disconnected, and when you plug it back in device manager says the device is working correctly.
Apparently usb "drives" tend to have an issue where you have too many other drives in xp. I hadnt heard of this myself, but my m8 said that under xp if you have a cpl of hds, cpl of cd drives and networks shares it may not be able to add the usb drive.
It IS detecting it - it's just not showing the picture of the drive so I can't get access to it.
Software software software.
Use movie maker or whatever software you got for it. Once installed, reboot (i know u shouldnt have to but hey its microsoft, it never does what it says on the tin )
Check the camcorder, maybe u have to set it to output through its connections or something.

Taggy's correct. When I plug in my digital camera, it prompts me what software I want to use to connect to it. Your MP3 player is basically a HD with software, which is why it shows up in your list of drives. Your camcorder is a camcorder with some drive space so it'll respond differently.
In the user manual for it, it says it will show up as a removable drive though.
When I use the software, it tells me to import, and you have to navigate to the removable drive in order to access it, and I can't do that since it doesn't think it exists >.<
