Off to France on Friday and i haven't studied any French since I did my GCSEs some 7years ago, so, is anyone able to help me compile some sort of list / reminder of phrases etc that may come in useful. Mainly 'I would like', 'Where is...', 'How much...', that sort of thing
Thanks in advance. (Pretty sure I know the three above... but its nice to confirm them in my head rather than go there and get it all wrong).
Re: Needed: Common French Words / Phrases / Questions
It's always polite to use the native tongue if possible in any country - except France. The moment you try to say something, your attempts will be foiled as they duly raise their nose (uncannily French at that), sniff and say "You are English...take your (ros)beef back home".
This will make you want to scalp his (and more than possibly ‘her’) moustache (the most ridiculous one you will ever see at that) with a Swiss army knife (or better yet a machete).
I have forgotten French due to my Italian (thank god). It’s a beautiful country, the trouble is it’s full of…and we all know how to finish off that sentence.
Try Italian there instead
C’è un bar qui vicina? Is there a bar nearby? Cheh un bar kwi vee-chee-na (stress on second syllable)
Hai la puzza come un cane salvatico? You stink like a wild dog ai la puz-za com-e un can-e sal-vat-i-co - to be used on any friendly natives, i mean unfriendly
I’m only writing this whilst I try to remember some French……

RETREATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly when i pass through france (to anywhere else in europe), i speak english and if they dont help me ill just ask the next person, normally youll find someone whos not a total ****er in a short while.
I learnt french at school, but i wouldnt want to speak it or go there. I dont even like the scenery, its all spoilt by citroens and renaults with dents in the side.
Think how much youd help a french person asking you for info in french if they came here, then given its pretty mutual, youll realise why people dont go there.
Have you not noticed that both in online gaming and forums, we have plenty of Brits, Americans, Belgians, Dutch, Italians, Germans, Spanish and no french people? Theres like a whole other internet thats just full of french people because they cant handle that everyone else in the world is happy to play together, assholes!
