That's really sucky advice dude.
Charity shops, second hand shops, carboots, free ads, freecycle, ebay or anything like that. Taking into account that some of the stuff that people get rid of is as good as new. Some of my suggestions may sound a bit pikey, but it's not, it's just starting out in a sensible fashion. You can get better and more personal stuff as you go along, but there's no point crippling yourself from the offset.
Mine and Robyns first place was kitted out virtually entirely with family scraps, the only thing we paid for brand new was the bed, because it's something new and special when your moving in with someone, 10years on we still have the same bed and it's still as good as new, thanks to making a wise and not too cheap purchase at the time.
