View Poll Results: Valentines Days - Love it or hate it?
Waste of money or a good reason to show someone you love them? An easy way to break the ice for someone you might not be able to approach, or a gimmick so that hallmark can sell more cards?
Whaddya think?
I've added a 3rd option - "not fussed", it's not Marmite after all...
Seriously though, there are elements about Valentines I really dislike, such as all the commercial crap that goes with it these days, but at the same time, if two people find true love on that day and that day is the catalyst for it happening, then that's wonderful.
It was a small valentines gift that I gave to Robyn that cemented us together, we'd only been together less than a week and she was going off to work in a different part of the country on the Monday and Valentines day was the day before on the Sunday, if it hadn't of been for the gift, the relationship may have never got any further.
I never get anything I ventured out yesterday to treat myself to some choccies as I didn't get any at Xmas when I told the guy behind counter he promised me some for next Xmas but bet he'll be like Sash and forget

I chose that i loveee it even though ill be a bit sad tooo because the person i love has a heart made from icicles!
Me and my friend at work have made a valentines day card for a guyy we work with who's been looking for a girlfriend for evers..it's all he talks about!
It took us ages to make it and weve stuck random pictures from magazines inside, there's one of ronald mcdonald in a football kit and a dolphin with a hat on and a weird green monster face and some cherry bakewells.
It should be funny on saturday when he's quizzing everyone about wether or not they like cherry bakewellllsss we put sweets inside tooo and i think it will cheer him up ;D
Iv put not fussed but I think after this year it will be different. We dont need a special day to say we love each other.
Tomorrow we will be at my daughter Emma's wedding. She is the first of our children to get married. Im soooo excited. You cant get much more romantic than watching a wedding
Not fussed this year since it's the first in 11 years I'll be on my own.
Stepson has politely asked that I be 'not around' as he is cooking a dinner for his love and would like the whole of downstairs to himself. But he has borrowed Batman DVD for me. Whoopee.
For anyone who is interested in how it originated, many people believe Valentines originated from pagan stuff called Lupercalia.
The sacrificial feast followed, after which the Luperci cut thongs from the skins of the victims, which were called Februa, dressed themselves in the skins of the sacrificed goats, in imitation of Lupercus, and ran round the walls of the old Palatine city, the line of which was marked with stones, with the thongs in their hands in two bands, striking the people who crowded near. Girls and young women would line up on their route to receive lashes from these whips.
Im not fussed, especially about the comercial aspect of it. Im making an effort today cos my gf has never had a fuss done for her nor anyone cook her anything either, so this year its gonna be nice, but thats her lot
I really wish we'de not sent it now,he got it a few days ago and it really freaked him out.
I had to admit it was me and my friend who sent it and he went crazy and said he nearly took it to the police at one point, and said he couldnt see the funny side of it and how could we think that he'd like it
I was really shocked because he doesnt seem the type of person that could even get mad like that.
He didnt speak to me for the rest of the night at work, it was a really horrible atmosphere and i just wanted to go home.
Were both shocked at how he reacted because he's always joking around all the time and i thought he was really easy going.
I could understand more if it had been scary like with pictures of knives and dead ppl inside or something..but we stuck cherry bakewells and ronald mcdonald and a dolphin and pink hearts and a butterfly inside =/ oh and a greeen monster that i guess might have been scary to a 2 year old. It just looked funny really though

Well I didn't think it was cruel based on what went in the card.
I just thought that the dude wanted a girlfriend pretty bad and might really get his hopes up after receiving the card, only to find the giver has no such romantic notions.
