Ok so who's got their decorations up? Last year i had none at all at home wasn't really in he mood for it, but this year i have a cool tree and tinsel all over the place.
Of course it wasnt my doing, the gf decided to do it so i let her, no choice really. Anywho, when did yours go up? Some peeps on my street put theres up in the middle of November, and some of the houses are plastered in lights, kinda make a mockery of the saving energy thing, but there you go.
Even though im not religious, i'll take the holidays as i can get them from whatever.
So what do you peeps have up now then, and was it family bliss decorating the house?
Was planning to deck the halls this weekend just gone but didn't get round to it Daughter had two parties to go to and all the housework and stuff. She wanted the decs up about three weeks ago. Will definately do it this Saturday
I try to be tasteful; a tree in the corner and tinsel everywhere. Lights around the door frames. By New Years Day I'll be fed up with it all though
I refuse to compete with the neighbours. There are a few 8ft Santa's & snowmen, a Santa that goes up and down a chimney, reindeer that swivel, rows of snowmen that sing when someone walks up the garden path... all the really tacky stuff
Ha, I wish I'd seen this post yesterday!
Just been on a drive up to Scotland and back, and every nutter had christmas lights on. But no - not just a tree with some lights, maybe some candles in the window, but entire nativity scenes on the front lawns!
I'm talking inflatable snowmen, light shows with santa climbing up a ladder to the roof, a whole sled and reindeer pulling it on one garage roof.. oh, and it seems like a whole block of flats teamed up and made a big pattern, about 4 flats high and 6 or 7 wide, all with bright lights and those icicle looking lights all along the rooftops and pictures of stars and santas, and something written but we were too far away to see!
Personally, I want a tree, I don't understand why people put them up so early though, I was planning on sorting it out this weekend. A tree with some nice decorations and lights, cheers up the place. But nothing too garish here, it just bugs you out of the corner of your eye all night long.
Next year I will have more fun with Christmas, since Lucy will be able to remember it more then It's so much fun shopping for kids toys now lol.
Christmas decorations don't go up until the 13th but there will be none in my house for I have no children I wish to tell lies to.
Aww come on, even I'm not gonna deny Lucy the fun of Santa Claus! Still remember camping out with my brother trying to catch him, for years! Then trying to catch our parents at it later on Neither was very successful though
Although there'll be none of that nonsense about threatening lumps of coal, or "No presents from santa if you don't behave!" That's just being a fanny.

Go to Woolies closing down today, from what I heard of yesterday all they had on sale was kiddie stuff and old grannies were queued round the block for it.
I agree with you anyway, if I had said small child I might put up a tree or something to help immunise them from reality.
I don't want to get stabbed! Crazy women trying to get things at a discount go mental.
I heard on the radio in some woolies stores it was "one in - one out", it was so busy.
And yeah, we haven't had a tree up for years, just never bothered since I left home. Christmas is all about the kids though, I guess I care more about seeing Lucy happy and seeing our parents enjoy their granddaughter's first christmas. They are all getting mega excited, it's insane.
I got a bit excited about the decorations and as I had a day off yesterday I got them down from the loft. My own Lucy and I had a fun couple of hours putting them up. The good thing was I had the chance to filter through the boxes and hide the crappy and tacky stuff before she saw it. Had to rearrange the tree decorations when she'd gone to bed. Lots of lights - some around the window and door frames and tinsel around pictures.
Will try and sneak some pictures of the neighbours houses later.
Not done ours yet. Well apart from the tinsel thingy Joseph bought at the chrissy fair and a bell that one of the other lads made and a battery powered merry christmas for the boys room. Few cards here and there, but really need to sort the decorations out.
Ours go up on the first of December, but I miss counted the ones you hang on the ceilings so could only do dining room. Now I'm back I promised the kids we would finish it off tonight. We don't have an advent calender as I think they are expensive for what they are so we read stories from around the world from a really neat book I picked up from marks and sparks a few years back, some of them only last a few mins and the kids love to hear them time and time again.
The guy that lives 2 doors from us goes a bit mad with the outside lights. I'll take a pic later when he turns them on!! you seen 'deck the hall's' film yet!
Harv put ours up yesterday. Just didn't feel like it with half the kids sick and the impending doom of me catching it I hope to god hubby doesn't catch it. Kids are impressed with what daddy has done and were all "wow, thats well cool!" this morning. I yawned sleepily
