I have had an iPod for ages now and it's a fat iPod video in white which is severely tarnished and the battery life is nowhere near what it once was. Nothing has ever gone wrong with it and I really like iTunes as a podcatcher so I think I want to buy another Apple product.
I think Apple laptops are the gayest thing in the world, I'm no Apple fanboy, and Safari is urine compared to Firefox.
What I wanted to know is if any of you have an iPod touch already, how you like it, are there any drawbacks to it and also are there any 'must have' peripherals? I heard it has a weird headphone plug so the expensive 'phones I use for my old pod might not work? Is that true and is there an adaptor?
Also do you need to get a wall-plug charger separately, does it come with one, or does it work with an old-style one?
I've never had a screen protector on my PSP or iPod but should I get one for the touch screen?
I thought about getting an Archos, but they look really big. Also does anyone know how much the old pods go for if I try to sell it or even want to buy it off me? The battery life isn't that bad.
Anyway I am in a pickle now. I had 2 ebay accounts, one real and one a joke one with a fake address etc to wind sellers up with silly questions. I went and paid £280 for a new iPod and just clicked ok, go, ok etc. The damn addresswas false, I bought it on my fake account by accident :/
So now I imagine some negro (I saw their name it's not racism) is sending out my merch to this fake address I had... I sent them an ebay message as soon as I realised and it was on the same night so supposedly they got it, right? Hopefully they send it to the rearranged real address I sent them.
In the confirmation emails I got the ebay one said my fake delivery address and the paypal one showed my real address. The person didn't answer my ebay message, so either they sent it to my paypal address and thought nothing of it, or sent it to the fake address and thought I was some kind of hacker trying to nick it.
All I can say is F**K. Does anyone have any experience of a situation like this, will I be able to claim my £300 back if someone collects it at the fake address or have I just thrown away £300 if they have sent it there?
eeep! All I can say is contact ebay and spin them a story about the wrong address. Tell them you have tried to contact the seller but had no response, but I'm pretty sure you'll get a reply before it is sent out if its a decent seller.
Harv is after a touch and I keep scanning ebay to try and pick up a cheapo one, but until they come down a hugeeeeee amount, hes got no chance. Hope its sorted out Tef.
Mate at work raves about the ipod touch and i have to admit its a nifty bit of kit - He did buy a bit of extra software a few days after he bought it - xmas prezzie. but once he had this ( think its standard now ) it was a pretty awesome bit of kit.
It has a charger I believe but it doesn't have any speakers to speak of - if you want internal speakers you could always buy an Iphone ( new 3g version out on 11th July )
He has an ipod too and uses that for his music and the touch to browse and watch video content.
I love the browser on them and every time he uses it I get the urge to buy one.
As for your ebay problem looks like your gonna have to fess up to ebay if the seller doesn't respond to your mails and take one for the boys to try and get it sorted. Good luck with that one ><
lol i would think that if you contact ebay and tell em about your false account etc you will surly be banned.
but if the seller sends out the item to a false adress it will come back to him as a return? then he can send it back to you? that is unless the falsy happens to be a real address in that case someones gonna get a nice prezzy at teffs expense
Having played with it all day, I think it's pretty cool.
The wifi is amazing, I watched Dr Who through iPlayer at about 9pm. (was watching the tennis when it was on)
It's got Google Earth/Google Maps, the Apple Safari browser, Email function if you are with gmail or yahoo or AOL, you can still get to hotmail etc through the browser.
Slightly disappointingly, you can't actually connect with your PC over wifi, you still have to use a lead to sync with iTunes, although you can BUY songs wirelessly if you're not careful :S
There are some websites designed specifically to cater for iPhone and ipod touch with things like games, sports results, news and probably horoscopes and crap like that on them.
Converting .avi files to mpeg-4 takes almost as long as just watching it on your computer, slightly annoying.
It looks really smart, I got a shiny Griffin case thing for it, and the touch sensitive screen is strangely intuitive, even considering I miss around every 3rd letter on the on-screen keyboard. Damn my big man-hands.
It's great though, iPlayer on your iPod, well worth £300.
Ipod touch is cool, i had one given to me from work. Its a pain though to start up as you have to connect via pc to itunes and download the software to upgrade it, but once that's done its fairly easy to add and delete stuff to it. I like the way you can add album covers and things like that, movies are a pain of course but if you can convert them to ipod format you're laughing.
I thinks its a cool gadget, though dont use it much cos i just cant at work and that
It was easy enough to download it for free from an alternative source. I was going to pay but their servers all crashed and I couldn't wait. Sorry Apple you lost money because you sucked.
TY Demonoid.
